Default Be gentle: my first time posting my photos

I'm more than a little nervous posting these, but here goes. The company I work for, who has the largest collection of modern art in the country, sponsors a juried art exhibition of employee works every two years. I missed the deadline two years ago, and am now DETERMINED to enter some work in this show. The deadline for entries is, *gulp*, June 13 and I am scrambling to get some work produced to enter. I am only allowed 3 entries, but I have some plans for diptych (sp?) and tryptych (sp?) pieces. I'd ultimately love to get these printed large format (at least 20" x 24") so they are larger than real-life in most cases.

As you can see, I'm really moved by any thing automotive (although I threw in some nature-type pics). I focus mostly on interesting angles and perspective as well as creating graphic layouts with lots of movement.

While they aren't world-class or anything, I haven't added a watermark or anything. Is this bad?

Critique away! I've listed the photos in order of my favorites to least favorite (but they still look 'good' to me):

I LOVE THIS SHOT, but my head reflected in the car really detracts from the photo. Sad:

Wow.. some are good, others are just plain great! None of 'em look bad to me. Good luck in the show

I like 'em. Think I'd put them in the same order.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Is it 'wrong' to use Photoshop?

A little tweaking can add to the picture. It's only when my head is placed on Brad Pitt's body do I draw the line.

I would try blurring out the edges on the reflections under the symbol a little bit, as well.

That sounds like a good idea. there's some great sets in there.

However, i love this one as a standalone, once it's tweaked up.

I love this set, too.. the green\silver is fabulous! If you would want a third, I' might go for something with some contrast in the center, like some red tail-light action or something, maybe (if you have access to the same car, of course).

these ones could be grouped a bunch of ways. I actally like the z-shaped one, which you had way down the list. It might be neat also to see if there's a way to play around and make them look even more graphic, somehow.. unless it's just plain photography you're lookin' for.

I think the photos are great! I love the groupings
HarlequinPixie did, too.

Good luck on the contest - I think you've got talent!

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Once again, thanks for all the kind words.

Here's the update:
1) I'm going to take the PSed "Imperial" file to the my good local Photo store to have printed and mounted to foamcore. I'll figure out something with framing.
2) I've printed out the two 'green' photos (it's an old Dodge) on 8.5" x 11" photo paper and they look darn good. I'm going to mount these myself next to one another in one frame. I might try my hand at mat-cutting.
3) My third entry will be more avant-garde. I've been playing around with the close-up of the corroded grille and some of the other images. I'm going to try my hand at a crazy photo collage of cut-up and re-assembled images. This could also end up being quite large. I'm thinking I'll mount the pieces to fiber-board and then cutting it out and mounting to a bracket so it would hang out off the wall a few inches. It would not be a rectangular piece, it would be somewhat more sculptural. I'm really excited about this one.

I'm dropping the file off tonight for the large format (24" x 32") Imperial print. I'm so excited!

Awesome Pics! Good Luck, you have award winning shots!

I love the headlights! the steering wheel is a great shot too. I find myself very intrigued with the red umbrellas. Is there a story behind that picture?

Thanks for sharing!
