Detroit LeMans and some IRL practice
J scored free tickets to the American Le Mans Series here in Detroit on Belle Isle. We got there early enough to catch a little of the IRL qualifying for their race tomorrow. It was my first race. I've been to Indy time trials as a kid but never an actual race. It was a blast. Saw Helio Castroneves tooling around on a scooter on way to autograph session. Saw some pretty cool cars. Got a little sunburned even tho was using sunblock...

Nice photos.
If you really want to get some good up/close photo-ops (and you have no connections) try getting to the track on Friday. The first days at the circuit, things tend to be more relaxed and looser, so more opportunities. IMO.
