Hey there gang! Steve (vwdeluxe) is back checking out the "org" to see old friends and make some new ones. I never truly left the VW brand (with my '73 and '89), but since trading my '05 NBC Turbo in for a MINI Cooper S Convertible, I was on the dark side for a few years. Some of you may remember that I work as a product specialist for the MINI brand, owned by BMW. After the MINI, I got caught in the "employee lease program loop" for a while getting a Z4, a 135 Convertible and then another Z4 M Sport, but this last lease is about to end and now I am back to the VW! I also had a 2012 VW Eos briefly, but that's another story! I could not be happier that VW decided to make the TDI engine available in the convertible AND I happened to locate a lonely "leftover" 2013 manual TDI last month for a great "end of the year" deal I simply could not refuse! So, 3 months before my lease ends on the BMW, I am the proud owner of my yet unnamed 2013 TDI Beetle Convertible Sport Edition.
Why Sport Edition, you ask? Because I have retrofitted him/her with the xenon/led drl headlamps, the 18" Twister alloys and a few other goodies to set him/her apart from the rest. My graphics guy is working on some custom stripes and those, along with tint and red mirror caps, come next week. There will definitely be many more pictures to follow.
Ordered Friday and arrived today. Amazingly fast. Installed in about 3-5 minutes tops. They look amazing, seem pretty well constructed and no fitment or operating issues. I drove home from work with them and they seemed fine, although they may need to be aimed a bit lower. Although no oncoming traffic ever flashed their brights at me, the cutoff of the beam seems kind of high to me compared to my BMW. I have noticed the slightest "jiggle" with the left lamp, so I will check that and hopefully address that tomorrow during the adjustment process.
Oh, and the 18" Twisters arrived as well. It's like Christmas all over again!

glad you got your lights in...I really think they clean up the look on the front of the car...I still haven't adjusted mine down yet either but like you said I haven't been getting flashed by people so I haven't messed with them...
You can source them on eBay for $780 shipped to your door. They only took about 3-4 business days to arrive. They are from a company called WinPower. Not cheap, and not factory, but a far cry from the $1200 in parts (plus who knows what in labor) to install the factory Xenon/LED lamps.
Sorry for the late response ... YES, they were truly plug and play. Shipping was super fast (had them within 5 days) and then out of the box and working within 15 minutes. You just need a screwdriver to unlock the OEM headlamp and slide it out. Unplug it, plug in the new unit, slide it back in and turn the crew to lock into place.
love this pop of red on the steering wheel thinking of doing something similar to mine were you able to remove this piece or did you mask it I was afraid of breaking tabs or something taking it off and not being able to put back on securely
