Toad Suck Park, Conway, AR, Oct 7, '06

[Beetlemania]

I had a lot of fun at Bugtoberfest in Conway a couple of weeks ago. It was a beautiful drive, leaving home before the sun came up that day, driving off into the sunrise.

I pulled up to the site, right on the Arkansas River in a great little park. I just love parking the Bug in grass!

Here are some of the photos I took. Unfortunately my newer SLR's batteries were almost dead, so I put the film in my older SLR, but I forgot to set it up right, so everything is a little dark. But you'll get the idea!

I'll start off a couple with Wilson, the '01 yellow GL owned by our very own hyakugojyuuichi. Congratulations on your trophy! It was very nice to have met you!

She's done a great job with his interior, and I hear there's more to come!

There were a couple of other .orgers there, one in yet another yellow NB!

Unfortunately, due to the camera settings, none of the shots of the Aquarius Blue 'vert came out, but there was a 3rd yellow Bug there, this one in the new body style. I had actually seen this one just a few weeks earlier, the last time I'd been to Arkansas, for the Eureka Springs show.

I didn't snap any pictures of my Maxi-Pod, nor 75Shot's customized '99, and we squared out the New Beetle crowd.

Toad, I hadn't seen your reply! The name had nothing to do with you, I swear! Well, not sucking, anyway. It was a pretty trippy show, toads or not.

I liked the foot-shaped accelerator. But I didn't want to focus on it.

Yes, there were Things there, but no I wasn't able to get any pictures of them this time. After the show, however, we did a cruise to Petit Jean State Park. It was a nice mountain drive up to the top, steep climbs for the air-cooleds and all.

One car left right after we got to the top, but here are those that stuck around.

Taterbug, aren't those great memories? I know I look forward to the memories I'll have of my yet-to-acquire classic Beetle!

The 2 cars are both GLs and both have Rave wheels!

Check out the lack of foglights. You can't see the window cranks with the doors closed, but they are there indeed! That way we never have to worry about the windows shorting out if we accidently end up under water. "Wilson! Wilson, I'm sorry!"

But that'll never happen.
