Texel, The Netherlands, May 30-June 1 2008

This weekend a bunch of us went to the island of Texel (again) to celebrate the 5th anniversary of New Beetle Club Holland and evidentally also the 10th anniversary of the Volkswagen New Beetle.

In the topic of last year you can read a little bit of what kind of island Texel is (if I recall well), so here only pictures will be posted.

This year we went to the same hotel as last year, only now with new owners.
Most of the people present were "repeaters", the type of people who attend gtg's all the time as well as some new faces.
I really liked that.

First I will post pictures that I have taken.
Later I will post pictures, and links to pictures of my NB-friends, so credits are where they belong

When all of us had arrived, we've had a welcome cake and champaign to start this wonderful weekend




In the evening we've played BINGO.
Although that's a game for old folks, with a little alcohol it's a fun game to play. I hope I can find some pictures taken of that evening.

The next day we went for a boatride on the Waddenzee to see seals and to "drive" by the Navy's Marine ships and submarines.

When we got back to the hotel, all the cars were lined up










This morning we went to an ice cream farm.
The ice cream was yummy


Some of us went to the local light tower




The NBC here in front had entered our website just 2 weeks ago, but weren't able to be here for the whole weekend, so they just came up all the way from mid-south of The Netherlands to Texel for the day. They brought with them friends with an old Beetle Convertable. How cool is that?!?!

for sick children and there family
to give them 1 week of joy and laughter

At least Michael thought of taking pics of New Beetles as I did not

The thought was to collect money from the people who were present at the meeting and that the club would donate the remainder of the amount needed to support a vacation for 1 sick child. But that wasn't necessary, as the people were very generous.
A newspaper article will be printed in the local Texel newspaper and a banner or something else will be put on the main page of the website to show that "we" as a club support good causes.
