How y'all are
![]() As we do here in Jacksonville, We have a monthly (1st Saturday) breakfast GtG, known as "Bugs for Breakfast". This month (September) we scheduled a photo shoot following B4B, at a spot chosen by John/OldBugman. The location was Dames Point Park, which is underneath the Dames Point bridge. Let's just say the the location lived up to the hype. This months GtG was only 3 nB's strong, but the B4B was great and the photo shoot even better. The location as previously stated is a park- looks like we have a great location for a GtG! Thanks John for giving us the scoop on such a cool location! Here's the pics. The 3 Bugmen of the Dubpocalypse and their beetles are: 1.John's white nb 1.8t- don't know the nB's name, but he keeps calling it "the beast" ![]() 2.Vern and his Aquarius Blue nbc called "the lil guy" 2.Al/scarabY2k and Cup, his nB GLS 1.8t Enjoy

At first I read the name of the bridge and frowned.
Why would that bridge be called 'ladies' ![]() Then I got myself together and noticed that it's just Dames. Fyi, dames is a Dutch word for ladies, that's why I got confused. Now that the introduction is done, I applaud you all with the amazing photos ![]() I love the photos which were taken far away and I like best the one where the 3 cars are facing a different direction ![]() Definately advertisement material. Oh... does noone use that road at all? ![]() |

Awesome photo's Al!
![]() Might have found me a new new desktop background. ![]() And the B/W ones look exactly as I envisioned. I've noticed there's alot of pics that just seem better suited for B/W than color. Mind you the color ones look great too. Found this place by dumb luck was looking for Yellowbluff State Park which is somewhere in the area, when we ran across this small park. Still have'nt found the one I was looking for but thought I saw a sign when we were down there. As far as traffic there were some times we had to move but not many. Not much traffic, the road literally leads to a dead end at the river. Hmmm.... and as far my bugs name. Aint got one, I pretty much call the Oval "the Beast" thanks to the wife for that name, as that's what she refers to it as, but hey this could have potential NB=New Beast will have to think about that.

funny intro Marcia![]() John, Vern and myself were trying to think of some kinda catchy title for the thread- but being that we're all gentlemen (stop that snickering in the background), I opted to post a respectable one ![]() yeah, it does seem that my pics keep you guessing about or flow of traffic here in Florida . As John said, it's an access road to a park, which dead ends into the river, so running to our cars to give others access was limited- thank God for folks with southern hospitality and understanding of what we were doing![]() And I too agree- The different angled beetles are my favorite poses. We need to come back to this spot when the nB3 comes out and do this same pose, which will include an air-cooled beetle A 1st gen nB (B1) A 2nd gen nb- '06-'10 (B2) a 2012 nB (B3) That would be a cool pic. Or how about this one: A new beetle posing in the front, followed by: A 2009 Mustang A 2010 Camaro A 2010 Challenger with a caption of: Godfather of the Retro, or, the one that started it all. Anyhoo, i'm babbling- my favorite shots indeed ![]() Quote:
Glad you stumbled across this spot. And I agree- we need to do a GtG there sometime soon. |

Here's the funny part.... I broke down on the top of the bridge in my old '74 Beetle. I had to coast back down going backwards at 2 AM. Made it all the way back to Heckacher Dr. going backwards.
I wish I had a picture of the bridge to show how high it is. Oh, memories, great memories! ![]()
