Default Presenting El Diablo's "Beelzebug" - 99 1.8T

Okay, so I had wanted to wait until I had something more than a stock 1999 1.8t GLS, but I could not wait to feel the warm, beloved confusion - that space cadet glow!

Anyhoo - No mods as of yet, but first off are new wheels. Then perhaps a paint job - keeping the color and possibly adding a few black stripes (maybe even painting the hood black! Whatcha think?) I have had the car for six weeks, and have spent nearly every day (and every dollar) just getting it to run right. I bought it from a used car dealer who knew absolutely nothing about Beetles. Thanks to the Org, I have fixed every problem it had by myself and saved hundreds! In the past six weeks, I have.....
Changed the Coolant Temp Sensor (ridding myself of that annoying blue temp light, which for some reason also caused my oil pressure light to blaze and beep after driving for about 20 minutes, but only when the RPMs dropped below 1500).
Swapped out the MAF (car kept stalling randomly. That solved the problem)
Cleaned the throttle body
Changed the Fuel Filter
Put new tires on it
Replaced my vacuum lines
Rear brake pads

So, ladies and gentlemen of the Org, (please excuse the crappy photos. Cell Phone camera), I now present to you, Beelzebug! Everyone, this is Beelzebug! Beelzebug? This is - everyone!

Hi Beelzebug!

I love your beetle's name, Beelzebug, that rocks.

A black hood, roof and hatch would look great.
How about some horns?

Impressive list of maintence you have done yourself.
Mucho respect for people who DIY.

Default Thanks for the props!

I called him Beelzebug not only because of the color, but also because I swear sometimes it is possessed! I certainly thought that when I bought it. It had to have much exorcism performed, but is doing much better. Here are a couple more crappy pics from my cell phone. (The green bug belongs to a co-worker. It is a 2000 1.8t. Mine is in much better shape but has higher miles). Oh, and don't mind the mess in Beelzebub. Road trip to Sanibel Island last weekend, and tomorrow I am drving him from Melbourne, FL to Nags Head, NC. Haven't had time to clean her up. Luckily, the picture quality is poor so you can't see the thousands of insects on the bumper, mirrors and windshield!

Default Btw

Anyone know a good way to fix this? This is one of two issues which are currently outstanding on Beelzebug - the other being I had to disconnect the motor to the spoiler because the drivers side cable is somehow stuck in the metal tube. Only one side goes up. Makes a hell of a racket.
Anyway, if someone knows a good fix for the door vinyl, lay it on me!

You are in Orlando, right? As I mentioned above, I am going to NC this weekend to pick up the kids. Should be back on Sunday. The kids will be here until the 27th. We will, of course, at some point, be coming to Orlando. I already have some free tickets to Wet and Wild!

This is Beelzebug last weekend at Sanibel Harbor. It was so hot, I had to turn the AC on full blast and open the doors just to cool that black interior off!

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Just wanted to note - took Beelzebug from Fla to NC (and back) this past weekend. THe car has 96,000 miles on it, and I have to say that when I bought it, I would have NEVER trusted it to make that trip. After all the repairs I have made, however, he made the 1,600 mile trip with no problems. He did not complain once, and got close to 37 MPG WITH the A/C on pretty much the whole way!

Default New Pictures of Beelzebug's Makeover!

Well, I finally borrowed a camera from a friend and thought I would get some real pictures. First, some pictures of today's ultra mod, which I am very happy with! I just put these beautiful, brand new Riax "Seca" 16 inch hot rims on him! How you like me now?
