On with the updates. Installed my new *to me* summer wheels and also did a bit of brake cleaning and an oil change.

Here are pics from today.
Tom,

Those wheels look Great on!!!!!!

Pomelo has had a bit of a rough time of things the last few weeks. After last years driver side C/V joint and ball joint failure I was certain I was done 'down under' for a while.

Only a few thousand miles later the skid plate decided to leave me for some dead thing lying in the middle of the road. Then the downpipe committed suicide quickly followed by the tie rod clunking that they too needed replacing.

The bushing started clunking that they too wanted to retire. This was followed by the passenger C/V joint realizing all his buddies were leaving so he started wobbling and clunking in protest and now I've decided to kick em all to the curb including their harsh neighbors Mr and Mrs Apex Club Sport.

That's right, Kiddies. I'm going back up. Not quite back to stock but pretty damn close to it. I have on order the following items.

From ECStuning.
H&R OEM 337/30AE sport springs
ECS stage 2 front suspension rebuild kit with the Audi TT/R32/337 A-Arm bushing.
rear upper shock mounts
4 Genuine VW OEM 337/30AE sport shocks/struts

From 42 Draft Design
3" Race Downpipe w/2.5" Cat-Back adapter.
42DD rear oxygen sensor spacer

From German Auto Parts
Empi Passenger Side Axle Complete

There are still a few things left to address after all that gets in$stalled.

I would like to trade both my 15" winter wheels and 18" tires for a killer set of 17"s with allseason tires.

I also need to schedule a 40,000 mile service with Aaron before the snow starts to fly and I'm hoping that if I've been a good boy maybe Santa will give me a new skid plate preferably made of something shiny from DieselGeek.com .

Whew.. that's all for now. Gotta wait for everything to arrive and then take her off for her Doctors appt. next Wednesday.

$2964.10 spent in the last week and she rides just like an R32. Which is to say very nice indeed. Firm, controlled, no bobbing or weaving. Yet... plush. Volkswagen sure did sort out the MKIV suspension for the 337 and R32. Feels amazing. Sadly the exhaust is still loud but that and a few other things *headunit and a few rattles* will be sorted out shortly.

I guess this means I'm holding on to Pomelo.

I'm hoping the springs settle in a bit and it's just that everything is new because I never remember her riding THAT high even when new.

Not that anyone is actually reading these updates but I'm doing this more as an online record than for the readers anyways.

Downpipe is installed with the new cat. Decided to do a video in the garage with my new HTC Aria... not exactly great quality but meh.

I do like the tone in real life, the power is nice and of course it's nice not to be breathing in exhaust fumes anymore.

Springs have settled at least an inch from the above photo and I'll add some new pics when I can gather enough cash to get her detailed. God this car ownership thing is expensive.

December 28, 2010:

I take Pomelo in for her E-Check but with her CEL shining bright I'm well aware that I'll fail unless they do the "rolling road" test. Which in years past you could just ask to do but now they can only do it if their computer fails to communicate with your computer.

It does and they won't so they advise me to cancel the test and get it fixed.

I go back to Yorktown Automotive to make sure all the work they performed was actually performed and performed properly. They refuse to get it on a lift claiming to be too busy and that I will have to talk to the owner.

Panic ensues as the end of the year rolls closer and he doesn't call back.

December 31, 2010:

Yorktown calls and I head in. They confirm that yes indeed they did screw up by forgetting to install the O2 spacer but that it doesn't matter as my rear 02 sensor is dead as a door nail regardless. They don't have the parts to fix so I get an estimate to take to the DMV and beg for an extension.

The DMV informs me I have to get a "Fail" and an estimate for more than "$75" to qualify so head back to the E-check station.

This time the computer can't communicate because Yorktown did a hard reset of the ecu so... Rolling road it is and guess what? I PASSED!!!!

I feel so relieved as now I'm good for another two years and don't have to dump another few hundred into Pomelo immediately but instead get to budget it.

Nice to see you posting sir. Any recent Auto-x events.

Tom -> Glad that everything worked out for you. Hope that Yortown does you right and replaces the O2 sensor and installs the spacer at not cost to you.

Tax refund means I ordered a couple new items.

1)Torque app for Android phones.
2)XR7 OBDII Bluetooth adapter.

Now I can read trouble codes, rpm, mph, temps, boost etc all from my phone wirelessly and can clear any codes.

3) Rear 02 sensor.
4) 42DD spacer for the rear 02 sensor.

I need new headlights but want e-codes. If someone has a line on some let me know. If you own a set and want/need a vag-com Hex-USB let's talk.
