Wow. You bought a new 2005 in Feb. 2007--I bet you got a great deal. My first NB was black--great color! Nice tint and wheels (paint those calipers red! )

Thanks..I think I got a pretty good deal....the dealer added the kit, wheels/rubber and a suspension lighting kit and it sat in the showroom and lot for a little over 700 days. Base was 22,500 and they est approx 4000 in upgrades so they were asking around 26,000. I am not sure when they started to lower it but I paid 17,500. Its a GLS 2.0 trip with cream leather, cold package and XM/MP3 Monsoon, I think it was a pretty good deal, I never thought I would own a New Beetle but I love it.

Thanks all...I would like to up grade the discs and calipers but I am putting most of my extra money into my 72 vert. I looked into a couple of caliper paints and thats what I plan on doing. Having been into aircooled for such a long time you have to love them to put up with everything that comes with owning and driving them and its cool to see so many people that feel the same way about their New Beetles.

I'm on my 2nd NB now, but I had a few OBs too. My last one was a '68 w/ a mostly Gene Berg parts 1776cc double Dellorto screamer. It was faster than my '98 NB (2.0L/5 spd) which I had at the same time for a few months. I just got tired of wrenching on the old ones and not having A/C or very good heat. I would like to have an old air-cooler again someday, but maybe a Ghia next time. You will find many people here who currently own both OBs and NBs.

I got it from the dealer that way, no engine work yet, its a 2.0 trip, from what I have been able to find out it appears that there is not too much I can do to it. I dont want to chip it but I do want to replace the air box with cold air intake and replace the exhaust.

Your not jokin with me are you? I am not sure I have been scouring the Internet trying to find out as much as I can on parts suppliers, performance and cosmetic upgrades, I havent seen any kits like this ...The dealer sent it to a custom shop to have the kit added back in 04, is there a standard place on the kit for the manufacturer stamp?
