hi folks its been a long time!!

i took my bug off the road early 08 as i was really down on trying to use it as a daily driver and a keeping it looking good enough to s'n's.
so to ease the useage , bought this as a daily for my wife!

dont think you get them over there but is a vw lupo bit of a cult car over here as theyve stopped making them and replaced em with the appaling fox!!the gti version is especially good!
anyhow its a great lil car does 55mpg and is pretty much bulletproof as it has no mod cons at all!! no p.a.s,no central locking no a.b.s,windup windows, real back to basics motoring and all the better for it!
i really wanted a track car, toyed with selling the bug and getting an ex race porsche 924,but since the arse has fallen out of the bug market over here(turbo s are fetching £3.5k) and i knew i had a good strong car ,i decided to keep it and build it into a track car, with a bit of retro race flavour!
as im a massive porsche fan that was my inspiration so have gone for a 356 carrera panamericana/hot rod theme
and here it is!!
recently showed it on the 'evvo new beetle club ' stand at ultimate dubs 09 and it went down really well, which was good as its a bit off the wall for the cliquey dub scene over here and i thought it would get a lot of haters
begin the strip

porsche momo prototipo

beetle cup car panels, with no speakers, storage or armrest, trimed in german square weave carpet and mk5 rabbit interlagos

lightweight porsche rs replica buckets trimmed in mk5 rabbit cloth

console deleted

rebuilding and cage trial fit

everything back in

lightened and delocked handles

inspiration for the exterior

the story so far, still loads to do but getting there now!!

im still looking for some nice period mexican decals if anyone over there can help me out please!!happy to pay or swap for u.k stickers or merchandise
dan

This might seem like a dumb question but what's a period mexican decal?

hi skarab long time!
the wheels i made myself from a set of 5 spoke deep dish alloys i acquired from a friend!
theyre inspired by the wheels on this truck i found on a u.s rod site, was gonna do em cream the same but that didnt really tie in with anything on the bug

before powdercoat

all finished and ready to rock

and on the car

Incredible Dan. And you did that yourself? I'm impressed beyond words buddy

Not that I want to do Cup's wheels like that (although I do love those wheels), but i'd sure love a detailed how-to on your wheel project. I'm curious to what is actually the face of your wheels comprised of. and how was everything assembled.

I'm in awe of your work my good man.

And yeah, it's been a while.... good seeing you here again

here are the wheels when they were on my friends bug (the tweed one!!!)
i had aluminium centres laser cut and powdercoated ,then i drilled and tapped each spoke and bolted the disc to the wheel and then fitted the empi hubcaps!!! simple!

discs no caps
