Well.. after a day or two since we put the Borla cat-back on my bug, the system started to make some noise when going over bumps, and last night it was rattling non stop. I think that everything is fine with the system but in order to have the tips sitting the way I wanted we had to shift the pipes and connections and we kinda positioned everything a bit too stiff so the rubber holders stretched and system was lowered half an inch. I went back to my mechanic last night and we find out that the whole system is sitting on the rear axle so we had to use some rubber holder from Zlatans collection of rubber stuff and replace the middle muffler holder which positioned the system a tad higher. Now everything is great again ! Pics to come.

Here are some photos from Borla installation session
Just to keep everything tight I wanted a washer wellded to the end of the front holder to prevent sliding off the rubber. Came out great

It takes 7 minutes to go from shiny to nasty in Toronto during winter. Here is a rare set of winter photos taken behind car wash.
New Spoiler and Borla Cat-Back.

My great friend works at Audi Downtown and he mentioned some discount on Audi parts . It's just one of those things you have to take advantage of, so I ordered TT shifter lever and stuff. 3 days and $100 CAD later parts arrived and installation took place in my undergroung garage last night.

Here is the old Linkage. Rusty, dirty, a bit off but still great VW stuff

I took a detail photo as a reference to adjust a new links. Note the NUT in the bottom right corner of the big pic It was there all the time!

I cleaned the plastic clips and greased everything.

To remove the lever I used adjustable wrench as a lever and it came right off.

Here is a short "How to upgrade to Audi TT Short Throw Shifter Lever" on a 2000, 2.0 manual Beetle.

Do it on your own risk! I do not take any responsibiliti if you hurt your self or damage your vehicle. Blah Blah...

Put the shifter in neutral and engage hand brake.

Disconnect MAF sensor.

Remove the Air Box. 3 philips screews on top side and 2 bolts on top and bottom side. You will have to remove a big clip to disconnect main air intake as well.

Mark somehow the position of the plastic rings ( the ones on the link ends ) to know where to set the new ones. Push down plastic rings to loosen the lingage and slide it off the long bolts.

Remove the metal clip ( there is only one clip ) from the linkage arm and slide the arm out of the cylinter. Keep the white plastic bushings ( grease them and the cylinder ).

Unscreew the bolt on the base of the shifter lever and pry the lever up. It takes one nice push and it comes right off.

Place the Audi TT shifter lever. Align the big tooth and it will sit right on. There is not much room to tighten it up but do your best and bolt that sucker down.

Put the old linkage arm back ( or the new one like I did ) in the cylinder and place the metal clip on top.

Connect linkage ends back.

Return air box and MAF sensor connection.

Test the shifter ( all gears ) while holding the clutch down.
It might be off and you might not be able to hit all the gears but do not panic! Adjusting is easy. I did it alone in no time.

Loose one linkage end and set it a bit higher on the bolt ( I used 5 mm steps ) and then test again. Repeat the step on both linkage ends untill you get all the gears back and then fine tune.

It's 1 hour job but I took my time and did it in 3. I cleaned and greased everything. Shifting is shorter and more precise now. Highly reccomanded!

Good luck !

I think it's time for Speedle and Bug Vader to get together, and we can grab a dinner in the meantime How's life, universe, and everything else?
