Angry pictures not posting - help?

okay, can someone help me with the pictures that don't seem to want to show up. I clicked the insert image and enclosed the file path for the images that i wanted to post, and it just replicated the filepath instead of the pictures. i tried copying and pasting and that didn't work. normally i'm good with this stuff, but now i'm feeling stupid (and frustrated).

You're trying to link them directly from your hard drive. You can't do that!

Go host them somewhere, or upload them using the attachment tool here on the org

edit: more specifically, when you hit Quick Reply, go to "Go Advanced", and under there will be a button that says "Manage Attachments". Upload from hard drive, and take it from there!

I use Gina's second method. Click either the Post Reply button, or the Go Advanced from the Quick Reply area and use the Manage Attachments button.

I've heard that the administrators prefer that files actually be loaded to the .org so we're not at the whim of hosting sites over time.

Thanks Gina - I even had to convert some of the files to PDF because my files were too large... Hopefully this will work.

I can see 2 of them!

I usually go into MS Paint and use the stretch/skew option, shrinking about 55% in each direction.

Yeah, the file management system here isn't the best, but once I got it figured out it wasn't so tough.

Thanks for your help guys - I had to shrink these originals to 25% of the original size... I guess I have a powerful camera or something.

Thanks for your patience.

good looking bug. Turbo S is awesome. The color is Uni Red - not Tornado Red.

hmmm... you have me intrigued Susan . I bought the car from a European Import dealer in town (doesn't specifically deal in VWs) and still have the flyer that I printed offline that advertises the color as Tornado Red. If you could point me towards any information, I'm curious to research this some more (especially since I want to get at least sections of the car - i.e. bumpers - repainted over the winter).

thanks,
dana

I will point you at dnyed's 2003 Turbo S which is also Uni Red. http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19634

From 1998 to some time in 2005, all of the red beetles were Uni Red. In 2005, at least a few of the convertibles were done in Tornado Red but not all. In 2006, the red color became Salsa Red.

Tornado Red was reserved for the Golf and Jetta lines. The car lot where you purchased the car probably didn't know there was a difference and used the color he/she thought it was.

There should be a color code sticker on the under side of the trunk liner that you can match to the color chart. I'm still looking for the post that has the official color chart. You will need the color code to have the paint work done - not the common name. If you cannot find the sticker, your local VW dealer should be able to take your VIN number and print a sheet with the color code on it. It may also be in the manual on a sticker in the first several pages.

Paint code thread with the official paint codes: http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1575

The creator of the thread refers to Uni Red as Red in the beginning and changes the name to Uni Red. The paint code is the same though. Look for the paint code as I explained above.

Yes, it's Uni-Red, the same as mine. Tornado Red was only offered for 2005 models. I was the owner of a 2005 Tornado Red NBC, and there is a bog difference, mostly noticeable in person. (Ex-hubby got the 'vert... )

But, no worries. Your NBTS, my car's twin, is gorgeous!

Thanks for the paintcode help you guys. Lady and her Tramp (my stepdad's Jetta Coupe) had their end of season pics taken today; I'll post pics later. I've started my wishlist for winter mods, which include a wing (not a huge fan, so it won't be anything big), dash accessories, and new wheels. I get my profit sharing bonus early in the spring, and plan on using a portion of it to get the wing painted, and also touch up the bumpers, etc. I feel so guilty driving Lady as much as I do (about 500 miles a week), but I gotta work to pay for her and her treats (not to mention life itself!)...

Smile More Pics...

Okay, so here are some of the pics that I took yesterday at our end of season photo shoot. Please forgive the mud on the tires, as we had to pull into the grass to stay out of the way of the dog-walkers, joggers, etc.

Attachment 39241 - 3rd place trophy from Englishtown, NJ Fall Show and Go - New Beetle "Stock" Class (the website advertised for stock, mild, and wild, there was only "stock" and modified)

Attachment 39242 - 2nd place plaque from H2Oi - New Beetle Stock Class

Attachment 39243 - 2nd place plaque from VAG Fair, York, PA - New Beetle "Mild" Class (no stock, just mild and wild)

Attachment 39244 - proud of her 2007 accomplishments

Default 2nd Annual East Whiteland Fire Co. Car Show

Okay, so me thought that the season was over except for Toys for Tots (which I didn't make it to unfortunately - stupid midterm grading), and I get this email about our local fire company having a car show as a fundraiser. Seeing as we're used to driving across state lines to show, driving around the corner (literally around the corner) seemed like a breeze.

So, Lady and the Tramp represented the VW crew, and also a large percentage of the import crew. The lot ended up looking like a Mustang show early on. But, most of the cars that showed up were domestic classics and antiques - old TBirds, Corvettes, Victorias, etc. And since the fire company sponsored there were the older fire engines and police cars there too.

Lady actually attracted a lot of attention from the children! They got so excited over the stuffed lady bug, mini-Beetle on the dash, and of course the lady bug floor mats and the flower vase. It was fun to watch them drag their parents over.

Here are some pics:
Attachment 39490 - the lady bug floor mats (an older pic - not from show day - please excuse the dirt and gravel)

Attachment 39491

Attachment 39492

Attachment 39493

Attachment 39494

Actually, funny story, not for me at the time. Pulled into the lot, lady cop made sure I was showing and when I pulled up to two of the volunteer fire fighters (still in high school) they started freaking about how I didn't belong in the lot with the show cars, etc... They quickly changed their tone when they saw the trophies and the supplies start coming out. And the funny thing is - neither one of their "show" cars 1) had a display, 2) was stick (let alone 6 speed), or 3) was shown with the hood open! Gotta love the stereotypes that people come up with against female drivers!

i know, right? women are allowed to own and show cars just as much as men are! maybe i'm just being a liberal feminist, but are the other females out there getting annoyed at some of the pitches about Hooters girls and bikini models giving us something to look at when we accept our awards?

i mean, why should i look at something i have naturally, when some of them are very obviously fake?
