Here is my new baby! The exterior picture is from the day before we officially bought her:

Here are some interior pics taken after I cleaned her insides up a bit.

She definitely needs some more detailing and some minor cosmetic work. I'll be dealing with scratches around her door handle and above the wheels. I'm replacing her front headlight lenses, adding some tasteful chrome rim around the front headlights, and replacing the shift boot. I also want to get a new emergency brake handle. Any comments and suggestions would be great! I have been obsessively reading this forum and looking at pictures of other black bugs to get ideas.

So is it infinely spaceous!
When do we see a beacon at the top of the car?

Clean looking bug! Welcome.

So is that some sort of aftermarket armrest?

LOL, thanks! She is bigger on the inside than she looks! But she got the name because her clock runs super-fast. I'll have to look into a beacon.

I think the armrest is after-market... it looks pretty weird there. I'll have to ask my friend who has an identical twin cousin to the Tardis (her car's name is Thomas.) Same year, trim level, mileage (86.5 for mine, 87 for hers), same color-- everything. Except Thomas's clock loses 15 minutes an hour.

I just happened to notice that you have the very rare Husco Engineering sliding armrest!!
Yes, it is aftermarket but very few folks have ever seen them or have had them installed.
I had one in my old '93 Passat and loved it. It has a neat slide out cup holder and came with it's own cup also!
Husco is out of business now so hang on to that conversation piece.

Glad your happy with your NB

I've figured it out for you
Tardis and Thomas are in love, and that's how they 'make up the time' when they're apart
And it's how they tell you it's time to get them toghether parked nose2nose and take some cute pictures
Welcome, BTW I think you'll enjoy your time here with other NB maniacs

Cool! It's very handy, and my new electronic travel mug fits in there. Neat to know it's a conversation piece. The sliding part is fun.

LOL. My friend says Thomas is gay, though, so maybe they're just best friends. We're definitely going to do pictures.

The radio is excellent! It's got some wear, so I'll need to do a cool night shot so all you see is the awesome lights!

It's just a little too cool to wash her, but once I get her washed and Zaino'd, I'm going to do a photo session at various landmarks around town.

If the weather is nice tomorrow, the Tardis is getting a bath, claybar, and Zaino. I'm also going to tackle changing out the shift boot and emergency brake lever. I'll take pictures!

I also need to replace the hazard light switch and the driver's side door latch module. Yay. I'm not doing the door until I'm ready to take the door panel off for painting.

It's a car cleaning and polishing kit. I've never used anything so fancy... I used Turtle Wax on my previous cars. But I figure a black car needs special car.

Unfortunately, it's cold and snow-flurrying today, so I don't get to do any of it! It's supposed to be nice tomorrow, but I'm busy all day. Sigh. At least I took her to the wash bay yesterday, so she doesn't have dirt on her.

Wow! I just Googled Zaino.... looks like some pretty decent stuff. Never heard of it before. Might need to give that a try.

Hope the weather clears up soon for ya. Take some pics of your baby when you get it all cleaned up.

I changed the e-brake and shift boot today and took some pictures.

Here's a closeup of the stereo. It's a JVC KD-S7250.

The new shift boot and e-brake handle. The shift boot is too big, but it will stay on there until I can get one that fits better.

The adorable floor mats came with the Tardis.

And here's my little friend in my blumenvasen. (I am DEFINITELY going to paint the steering wheel spokes.)

Very nice! (except for the spokes, of course ) I tried painting mine a few times and it never seemed to last, so I covered them in adhesive metal leaf from a hobby shop. It's called RealMetal and it's made for model cars and airplanes. It's starting to peel now, but it's lasted for years!
