UPS refered me to a company called Northland Logistics Inc.
They are a customs broker and freight forwarder.
They charged me around $47 dollars or so.
After it was cleared which was the next business day. UPS called me for a delivery time.

As far as the bumpers go. I have a guy who owns a body shop. I will have him vent my hood as well as paint the bumpers. I plan to have the side markers shaved. Once everything is done, I will do the instalation myself as I want to take my time and make sure that everything is on perfect.
I'm very tempted to do a test fit though
Hopfuly I will have all of it done in the spring and in time for the summer.
Thanks for your interest,
MiG

I had an engine light come on a few weeks ago.
The stealership wanted to charge $100 just to scan it.
My warrantee had just run out due to my KM and I was not willing to pay that kind of money just to have them tell me what the problem was before even fixing it.

So I sat on it for a bit and decided to look into buying a scanning tool and checking it my self.
I purchased an OBDII Data Cable from eBay. Hooked up the lap top and installed the drivers that I got from ROSS-TECH. Got everything ready to go and nothing. Didn't work. I was frustrated because I just wanted to know what the hell was wrong with my bug.
I wanted to be prepared and know if they were trying to burn a hole in my pocket.

Then I got a lovely email from ECS Tuning. An add for scanning tools. The V-Checker to be exact. I couldn't help my self so, I bought one .... that was two days ago.

My V-Checker Scanning Tool arrived today. Plugged it in. Followed the on screen instructions. Did a full scan and BAM!!

VW DTC 17704 (P1296) - Cooling system malfunction

I never thought that I would be so happy to see an error code!
I cleared the code and now my engine light is off.

Anyway, I'd like to think that I just saved my self some money this way. At least now I know where to start.

Well, I did some poking around and this may be what I need to replace if not my thermostat.
The Coolant Temperature Switch/Sensor
The one with the green top. It comes with an "O" Ring.
It seems rather easy to replace, inexpensive and probably the best place to start.

Helpful DIY Thread p1296 solved!!!

Ross-Tech
18613/P2181/008577 - Performance Malfunction in Cooling System
Possible Solutions
  • Check Engine Coolant Temperature Sender (G62)
  • Check Coolant Thermostat
  • Check Engine Cooling System
    • Put the key on, fan speed on 1, and push the a/c switch. Are both fans kicking on? If not, you found the problem.
    • Put the key on and fan speed on 1. Does heat come out readily from the vents?
      • No. Probably the water pump is gone.
      • Yes. Probably the thermostat is gone.

Hey MiG,

Good chatting with you the other night! Thx for the advice

We actually met I believe back in the summer @ the June Jitterbug in St. Catharines: It was just me and my buddy Turbo-Christ0 and we hung out with you and the crew for awhile if you brought your Bug and parked on the grass.

Have you got the Votex bumpers on your Bug yet? Where are you going for the body work? I am looking for a good body shop in Toronto now that I have decided to shave the front bumper too after seeing how far the old turn-signals stick out . Originally I was going to go to Don Valley VW, but since its no longer a straight forwards paint and go I need to look around.

Cheers

-DT

I need to do this to minimize the hot strikes I get with my HID's

My FUBA was starting to crack so I replaced it with a shorty also, but I did notice a drop in reception . I only listen to 680 news now: no more FM for me lol

How easy are the pedals to install?

No problem buddy,
Yeah um .. I don't think it was me that you met that day at June Jitter Bug. I mean I was there but, I was with Tesla and his girl. Also my car was parked outside the park. Maybe it was my stunt double you met.

About the body work, I have a guy that does the work on our company trucks. I have been going to him for years. He's a good guy and I trust him.

lol ... it's about time you came to my hood mang!!

I Don't want to give any false info.
The pictures on page 1 are actally how I want her to look but, this is how she looks currently.

However, thanks for the nice words bro! There is still allot of work I want to do on her but, she is coming along quite nice if I do say so my self.
As far as the hood is concerned, it is still a thought at this moment.
The shop that is painting my Votex kit is also going to do the hood.
I have FK Coilovers coming next week. Looking forward to that!

Should be revealed in the summer!

Nice goodies bro! I know you're pretty Amp'd to get everything installed. So when is the install?

I dig the last pic. Has a SciFi vibe to it. BTW how are you gonna install the center dash vents?

lol
weird how they ended up at my door.

I'm hoping to have it all on in April ... hoping!

About the centre dash with the vents. I can see it's going to be a big pain in the a$$ .... SMG was right about that!
However, I really do like the look of this mod so I'm still going ahead with it.
Wish me luck!
