growing up in southern california, all we owned was vdubs. no rabbits, but numerous bugs (i still miss the 64 with sunroof. i learned how to drive a stick on it!) and buses. when we moved to texas, we got ride of the vdubs (the weather was just so hot for an aircooler) and got a vw fox. that car honestly was a lemon.

i drove hondas after that, but when i decided i wanted to buy a "real" car (one that was less than 3 years old), i ended up back to my first love: the manual transmission beetle. except i get diesel now, too!

glad you are back, too!

Electro Pods

Simple LED lights and ran the wires from under the dash and through center console and bridged it with the 12v Lighter just under the heater controls. I wanted it to work with the cars lighting system and not an independent switch. It also alows me to use the dimmer switch too.

Looks great! Do they sell them in white too? Couldn't find that exact piece on the net.

To be quite honest, I got my pods at Wal-Mart. I know they had Blue, Red and Green for sure however, the White ones were different. It was a long strip pod with about the same amount of lights. Oh and by the way, all the lights look clear like in the photo above but when they light up, it`s in their respective colors of course.

I think if you linked it to your dome light it should work.

What I realy want to do is have my rear spoiler light up in red every time it flips up ... that would be pure Knight Rider .. lol

Well yeah, my idea is to have the whole top edge of the rear window lit up (red) with LED's or some sort of Fiber-Optic type lights casting a glow on the under side of the spoiler however, I would like for it to light up only when the spoiler is engaged.
The only problem I see that I may face is finding where to hook up the lights with out splicing wires. Maybe sombody on here that has messed around with the spoiler might know and be able to help out with some ideas.
I just might have to put this mod on the back burner for now!
