It's been awhile since little Probie has had a good photo shoot. So I washed him up on Saturday and took these pics. And then today I got the pleasure of parking next to a silver/green/pink chromaflair beetle. Oh was I excited to see one of those! Probie was a bit jealous, but he'll never admit it
Oh and Probie has a temp plate because I ordered him a personalized plate. It'll say VDUBGRL! And I'll keep that plate for awhile I'm sure. |

yeah I was excited to be parking next to a chromaflair!!!
I love them, though I'm sure you'd never find touch up paint for them at Walmart lol I'm hoping that for my birthday I get some new toys to give Probie. I know that Matt has some extra subs he's aquired and a sub box Now I just need an amp, which he has, I just have to convince him to put it in the beetle and not his jeep Piece of cake I'm sure! Here's hoping Probie will get some goodies today because what makes him happy, makes me happy! |

I hope ya get some new goodies too Birthday Girl!!
Chromaflairs are hot but I think Probie parked next to it is giving its run for the money. ![]() ~Shonnel and Evilina |

Wouldn't make sense putting them into his Jeep, since he'll be trading it in soon for a VW anyway ![]() |

Very good point and like Matt said, if he needs it we can always remove it from the beetle and get a better one ![]() My mother gave me some money for my birthday and I got a gift certificate to Advance Auto Parts (I think it was them anyway. And I think I'm one of the few girls who actually gets excited over a gift card to a auto store lol), so looks like Probie will be getting some new things, not sure what though. I'm tossing between, tint, shark fin antenna, a clear 3rd brake light, or saving it and trying to save more to get things like brakes/pads/calipers/rotors, tires, and spoiler. Sooo many decisions... |

Probie will be getting some new rubber tomorrow
This is my first time ever buying new tires! He will be sporting Yokohama Avid TRZs! The guy one the phone at NTB that I talked to actually runs on those tires with his Civic and he LOVED them. I'm so excited to have a fresh set of wheels on Probie! Hoping for a slightly smoother, a lot quiter, and better handling, that way we'll be sticking to the road at the TOD. ![]() I'll post pics as soon as I get him home. Maybe a wash and wax is in order as well...hmmm...he's so spoiled! Plus, today I should be getting my N75 valve today, to help the issue that I've been having with no turbo power. I've been running turbo-less for two weeks now. 90 horsepower sucks with no turbo!!! So here's hoping that works too. ![]() |

UPDATES:
Probie got his pretty new set of wheels on this weekend. I'm loving the new tires. Traction is freaking fantastic!!! Though, while I was there, they said I was almost metal to metal with my pads and rotors then they found a bad front wheel bearing. They offered to fix those issues for a mear $740 on top of my tire purchase. I got my N75 valve, installed it last night and it seems to have fixed the issue. No more CEL and I'm able to take off just as well as I used to. Maybe better with the new tires. So, after investigation, the shop was yankin' my chain, my pads and rotors are worn, but ok. My wheel bearing is probably the biggest issue right now. I have to price around, but I've been told it won't be cheap. But I can always wait until after the cruise, I'm sure it's not THAT bad. I will post pictures of Probie's new wheels later tonight. I've been busy trying to get things ready for the dragon cruise! But I must say...these new tires...are hot! |

I'm glad the N75 remedied the turbo issue
![]() Wheel bearings unless they're pressed into the hub should be an easy DIY for Matt. At the same time, if he/you has access to a micrometer and the rotors are still within spec (haven't been turned down too thin) then simply slip in new pads when you have the caliper off for the bearings. Check out Parts Geek. They have awesome pricing. |

Oh boy has it been an interesting week...[WARNING: the following message may contain information that is unpleasant. The series of events that I'm about to explain can be considered a rant. Consider yourself warned.]
First off, as you all know I got new tires. While getting new tires, the shop told me I had a bad front wheel bearing, and that I needed rotors and pads and they would assist me with those issues for a mear $740 (on top of my tire purchase ) So I declined.Earlier in the week I got my N75 valve which was supposed to fix my turbo issue. I was excited it came in, it was an easy fix for Matt and I to do, literally took minutes. After installing the new valve, tada! turbo works. Head to work the next day, turbo still works, whoohoo, it's fixed. Simple repair things are great! The wheel bearing is acting up a bit so I decide to get it fixed that weekend. Driving home from work Monday night, all of a sudden my turbo dies again, check engine like comes back on, and I'm back at the beginning. I wanted to hold off on the wheel bearing until I could get my turbo fixed, but as the wheel bearing got worse, I really had no choice. I was hoping the turbo would be a simple fix like a bad hose or something so I gambled and took my car in to get the wheel bearing fixed. Friday night I dropped my car off at Wolfgang's, my local shop that I had really enjoyed the first few times I used them. When they got there Saturday to work on my car they said they could change the wheel bearing for $250 plus give me a discount if I paid in cash. While they were there they said I needed new pads. Ok, fine, do it, I was prepared to pay for two wheel bearings so pads will be cheaper! So, $390 dollars later, I have a new wheel bearing and new front brake pads. The mechanic says there is still a noise, sounds like it's coming from the transmission. He says it's ok for now, but if it gets louder to take it back to him, they'll drop the tranny and rebuild it...yeah right. This was Saturday...As the weekend went on, I noticed that my ride was really loud. Abnormally loud, and while making turns it sounded like my OTHER wheel bearing was bad. I was not pleased because they said only the left side was bad and so that's why I got new pads. I now no longer have money to replace the other wheel bearing if it indeed is bad. I dealt with it as best I could but I was still not pleased. So today comes. It's Monday. I made an arrangement with my boss to leave early so that I could drive to Troy's house (from TDIclub) so that he could look at my turbo and see what the issue was. So, it's noon, I head up there. During this time, Matt explains to me about his job and how this, that and the other is going wrong with it and how he might lose his job. THat's a whole other issue. So I get to Troy's, I drive it up the ramps and he puts a fan on it to let the engine cool. Check all hoses and things and everything seems to be in order. So, under the car he goes. While I'm chatting away with Matt, listening to his problems...Troy emerges from underneath the car with a not-so-happy look on his face. He shakes his head. I knew exactly what that meant. Sure enough, something is wrong with the turbo itself. He used a tool to put pressure on it to try to get it to engage and it hardly moved. The assumtion is that the turbo is clogged. Nothing we can do about it today. So, I ride home with a still dead turbo, hoping and praying that cleaning will be the only thing it needs... ![]() Then on my way home today I noticed that it was driving really funky. Almost felt like the right front tire was hopping. I was getting worried because I don't have the money for more repairs. I was ready to march down to Wolfgang's and complain. But I thought, you know, Troy mentioned something about an alignment with a wheel bearing change, Wolfgang's didn't but I should check. Thank goodness I did. My left front wheel was pointed outward while the rest of my wheels were straight. They must have messed with something while putting in the new wheel bearing. So in order for me to drive straight, I had to turn my wheels a bit causing both front tires to point outward!! Had I not thought about it, I could have easily ruined my BRAND NEW tires!!! Thankfully I had just gotten an alignment 3 months ago and I was covered under warranty. Free alignment was the best news I got all day today! So, here's the game plan: If all goes as planned (which I'm planning that it won't), I will take my car back to Troy on Sunday afternoon after church. He will have all Sunday and Monday to work on my baby. Hopefully he'll say, 'Hey, I cleaned it out, all is great, and he runs good as new.' Probie has been pushing it to the wire with me lately. With just over 10 days until the cruise, I'm really running out of time to get him into running order. I hope this turbo clean will do the trick. Troy's working with me on payment (thankfully) but I know if it needs a NEW turbo...I'm...well for lack of better terms ... S.O.L. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by MichelleRoze; 04-28-2009 at 02:22 AM.. |

Haaaaaay, you sneaked Probie's photo thread in and where was I
. Anyhoo, it's good to see some pics of Probie, by the which, I still love that name .Now speaking of love, I see you're not having too much of that, considering the issues you're going through. I pray that the turbo clean cures some of your ills, at least for a extended temporary while. I sure hope Probie's issues will be solved and you can make it to the Dragon GTG. It wouldn't be the same without you and Probie there. Keep us posted on Probie's progress. ![]()

I saw a car just like this one on the campus of UF recently... it had a silver stubby antenna and similar custom rear lights....
... strange... I must be projecting the need for more orgers on UF campus onto NBs that I see..
