I was looking into bilstein sport shocks and struts with h&r springs. I didn't really give coilovers much thought

look at the cost of the struts and springs ver. coil overs... i can tell you that you can get them (raceland) for about 350... depending on the cost of the struts and spring you might better off with the coil overs...

Do you have the raceland coilovers? Sell me on them lol. The only reason I was leaning towards the shocks and struts was because I can get a good deal on them. (ahhh the perks of dating a parts store manager!)

i dont have them... advantages of having coil overs... 1. you can go as low as they will allow you to. 2. you can set your car up with the perfect stance and not worry about anything while driving. 3. if you think you are to low or keep hitting thing you can raise the car up if you want. 4. if you want to sell your car you can leave them on there if you dont have stock suspension to put back on it and the car will look stock... my buddy has them and i suggested them to him and he likes them a lot. not to stiff to break your back but not to soft to where the car is going to tip over...

haha a buddy of mine had racelands on his jetta, says they were great for going lowww for the money, only bad part was the car handled terribly. That's a big no-go for me. I'm not concerned about a kidney-jarring ride, I don't mind stiffness. Lowering is something I'm not overly concerned about, I just want less body roll. (Although I do want my wheel gap gone!!)

So I guess what I'm saying is, I want function over looks.

But I think the bilstein sport setup with h&r springs would do well in both areas. Only an inch and a half lower, lifetime warranty on those suckers, I plan on having this car forever, I don't want to keep replacing stuff, as this is my second time replacing OEM suspension in 4 years. That was a really long run-on sentence. lol. my grammar gets progressively worse as the hours (and beers) go by... cheers!

My birthday present to myself (or my car, I guess)

VW's factory performance exhaust. I absolutely love the exhaust note, not too loud, doesn't drone on the highway, but gives a much more aggressive tone when you stomp on the gas. Direct fit, and I got it on sale much cheaper than even an exhaust shop could do. I am beyond pleased.

You're so silly
Hey do you have a link to your local VW forum? It would be cool to check out, and of course check George out.

Miss ya Randi. Lookin forward to seeing you in May! Is the B/F coming on this trip?

I don't have a build thread on there at this point, I don't have time to put one on there and here I mainly use that forum to keep track of local g2g's

And I'm not sure if he'll be with me or not.. It's not looking good, he's been super busy ever since he got promoted and has his own store. I doubt he'd be willing to leave for a week and a half. His store would probably burn to the ground without him based on how many of his employees call him when he's at home with me

thanks for the link

Too bad the B/F won't be joining you. Gotta keep the store from burning down I guess

BTW, keep track of the TOD threads. We're starting to get some things together that you need to be privy of.

See ya in May!

George will be ready to do some big time dragon slaying

Took these on the way to SoWo! I got my new suspension on, no more wheel gap! I went with KYB AGX shocks and struts with neuspeed race springs and couldn't be happier.

Tons more pictures later!

I really like your wheels. They compliment George very well. Not too shiney but has a nice finish to them. Are they a black-chrome?

What are the specs on them?

Your new stance is perfect. It makes your 17's look bigger. How is the ride quality?

The finish on the wheels is called hyper black, although I'm not sure why because they're definitely grey! These will be my winter wheels once I decide which really nice set I want next spring. They're the same as the factory 17's, whatever that is.

The ride quality is amazing. I may keep it a lot longer than I expencted. It isn't kidney-jarring, but it is a bit bouncier than stock. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, till I drove through the mountains today. It handled so incredibly well, I was blown away. This car was built to be driven, I guess today was a reminder of that.
