Tint adds nice contrast to the white-- lookin' good.

Sue says "hi" to both you and Llona.

I think contrast is the right word. I really like the new look.

Tell Sue we say "Hi" too. Looking forward to seeing you guys again. Maybe we should make up a reason soon. We're going to South Dakota and Wyoming in September but other than that we're open.

It's 40 on the sides. He put 70 on the back but it was already green glass.

Sometimes us old folks get a little behind the times. I had no idea tint could make such a difference. I'm glad we finally gave it a try. And besides that, she looks pretty snazzy!! Thanks so much for the kind words. I have 2 more fairly major mods I want to do and then I'll be content I think.

Thanks Warren. Life is good down here in the heat belt. It was 115 in Buffalo, Oklahoma today. Tint is good! I hope all is good with you. Keep having fun and we'll see you soon.

You say you'll be content with those 2 other mods, but I have my doubts. Modifying is a sickness. I think you're hooked!

Sorry I won't be able to see the transformation at the club meeting tomorrow. I'm gonna try to fly to Florida for the shuttle launch so I'll just have to wait to see the new look!

You know, I may have the sickness. But I feel great!

Have a safe trip to Florida and bring us back some pics.

Did they have a hard time with the back window when tinting it? It's a beautiful car, but how hard is it to keep all that white clean?

They had to do the back in 2 pieces. The seam runs along one of the heating element lines. He tried to do one piece but he couldn't get it to shape to all those curves. It came out looking very nice. Will have to be careful with the seam when cleaning it but it will be fine. If I have a problem he'll take care of it. He has been in business there since 1988. He has a very old and honest reputation.

I guess the white does take some extra work and care but I'll bet my car cleaning is no more strenuous than most people on the Org. We do the best we can. I know several people who have told me they dislike their white seats. I've only had Lily for about 19 months but I still enjoy my white seats and they are as clean as can be expected. Lily has a few windshield chips, paint chips and a slight mark or 2 on the seats but the only way to avoid that is to leave her in the garage. That ain't going to happen. We call the hits "purple hearts" and Lily wears them honorably.

Love Lily's new "shades". Of course a classy gal like her will look good no matter what she wears!

For the life of me I can't understand why VW does not factory tint the windows. Every car I have owned in the last 15 yrs ( with the exception of the Miata, who's got just a tiny bit of glass) have been factory tinted.
Shutter's first owner had him tinted and other than one small scrape the film has held up well, but cleaning it scares the heck out of me!

You are so kind. I agree with you about the factory tinting. I'm not going to complain. Other than that, they make a heck of a fine auto.

We were bored on a hot summer Sunday so we ran down old Route 66 from Sapulpa, OK to Arcadia, OK. We stopped at Pops for a couple of 6 packs and then headed home. We shot just over 150 pics today. Here are a few.

Nice pics, John. Is that an air-cooled bug/camper (?) conversion.
Definitely crazy -- must be something in the water out there.

The last 2 pics are the same "car". This guy has half a Herbie hanging out the 2nd story of his building. Wild place.
