Very Nice! How does it sound with the new exhaust? I've been thinking about doing some light performance mods to my NB(2000 GLS, almost exactly the same as yours, except 2000 and cyber green w/ tan). How hard is it to install the exhaust?

The install was fairly easy. It took us about an hour and a half like that. The magnaflow system is nice cause it goes together easily and uses all the stock hangers. The only recomendation I can make is to pick up a new exhaust flange which connects the catalytic converter to the mid muffler. It makes everything go alot smoother when re assembling. I love the sound, not too loud, nice and throaty(I'll take a video clip of it to post). My only complaint was that inside the car it was really loud around 2500-3200 rpm when accelerating, going up hill, what have you. But since I've been driving around with it on, it's been going away. I gave it up to be the exhaust just setting in. I did notice a nice little boost in power as soon as it was on. Makes all the difference in passing on the highway and going up hill. If I remember correctly, magnaflow said it adds 8hp. Otherwise, It's been on a week and I love it more and more each day.

Sounds good, I'll think about buying one. I'm not too familiar with working on cars, but I have a head for tools.

I love it so much now that it's finally getting broken in. I was sitting at a light today after I left the Oktoberfest show, and these kids were sitting next to me, and for the first time in awhile, the one leaned out the window and asked me a bunch of questions about Elwood, motor, suspension, exhaust etc. I could tell Elwood caught his eye cause of how clean he was, and the exhaust sound.

Here's a couple pics of Elwood at the Oktoberfest show yesterday. The first pic was taken by Pete aka Pdoel , and the 2nd by me. My pic goes to show just how reflective 4 coats of wax can be.

Looking great! What type of paint did you use for the dash kit? Looks like it turned out really well.

I just bought some off the shelf silver automotive paint at Walmart. Odly enough the shade I chose is almost a dead match for VWs interior silver on the steering wheel spoke. I lightly sanded each piece and went over them with rubbing alcohol. Then each piece got 2-3 coats of paint, then a coat or 2 of clear. I still have the center console piece which will be batik blue.

I completely forgot to wish Elwood a happy birthday on the 13th. He's been with me for 7 years now. I bought him new on 11/13/98 from Billco motors for $23,576.20 which included his Votex Raves, cd changer, and paint protection. It's been a truly great 7 years and 38,000 miles.

Well passed a new milestone with Elwood today. Not only have we been together for 7 years. We just passed the 40,000 mile mark today. And what a fun 40K it's been too.

Ohhhhh Schnapp Don't really have anything new going on with Elwood other than passing 41k this morning. I figured it was time for a bump.

Time for a bump. Marvins dad designed the gauge face for me about 3 years ago.

It's made by Belkin. It's similar to VW's Hold Phone(which I also have )where its a foam like material that can fit in pretty much any cup holder. I got it at best buy but now that Apple changed all the iPods, I don't know if they still carry it.
