Well as promised, here's my longer post about the past 8 years. Here we go

2/2/1998. $250 deposit on 1 New Beetle. A 24 hour window to purchase or pass. That really led to the purchase of my family's White 98(Herbie Jr.)But the tax credit we got from selling him went towards Elwood.

9/1/1998. Pueblo Mexico. Elwood's born.

Fast forward to 11/13/1998. I receive a phone call from Billco Motors informing me that there are 3 new 1999 New Beetles that just came in, all automatics(my main must have at the time). I go down to the dealership to see a Batik Blue GLS all cleaned up sitting out side and a Techno Blue & Tornado Red in the service dept being PDIed. I pulled the Batik in next to the others and stared at the 3 for about a half an hour before deciding on the Batik, because it was the classiest looking color in my opinion. Another neat bragging right was that this was the first Batik Blue in the city of Pittsburgh. So there sits Elwood. Base MSRP $16,850. all the standard options plus northeast emission requirements at $100, and the 4 speed automatic at $875. Plus a destination charge of $525 brought him to $18,350. Dealer installed options of a CD changer $525, and Rave alloy wheels at $795. That has Elwood at $19,670.
Final sale price $19,832 with all taxes, tags, title fees, etc. 60 months @ 6.99% for $388.77 a month.

Now since then.

1 A/C compressor
1 Trunk release
2 Window switches(1 each side)
1 Set of tires
1 Cd changer
1 Mass air flow sensor
1 O2 sensor
1 Front bumper
1 Tail light bulb
1 set of window regulators
1 Outside mirror switch
1 Keyles entry remote
14 Oil changes
2 Tv commercials
1 Magazine picture
15 States
4 Trips to Canada
& 11 Trophys

It's been a great 8 years and here's to many happy more with Elwood.

I put Elwood's raves on last week and cleaned him up a little. He's been sitting in the garage all week as I've been driving our ford ranger since I've been working the auto show here in Pittsburgh and didn't want him to have to sit in a parking lot and risk getting damaged. So anyway we had a nice day today so I pulled him out to go visit the autocross which didn't happen so I took some fresh pics.

Hit a milestone today. Elwood has hit 50,000 miles. I also dropped him off to have the annual state inspection and emissions tests done for the year, and in 14 days we'll have our 9th anniversary of ownership.

Here's some fresh pictures of Elwood. He just turned 52,000 miles the other day. These pics are from Super Jam 21 where he came in 1st New Beetle Coupe/Convertible Stock, and also from the recent Quaker Steak and Lube GTG.

We got hit with a few inches of snow last night so this morning I took Elwood out for a little fun in the snow around the neighborhood.

Took Elwood to the car wash today. Winter is the only time he sees a car wash since its too cold to hand wash him.

Workin it at the car wash.

I also finally took some pictures of the other new additions I've made recently.

New VW rotors with EBC Green stuff pads. I finally finished the 500 mile break in period and I gotta say I love them!

A set of WeatherTech window shields I scored off the Vortex for $20.

European VW Individual line badge

German Support your police decal

VW sticky pad

And a Mio Knight Rider gps unit.
