ditched the tints this past week.
I'd kinda been wanting to go 'fishbowl' lately, as the dark tints were starting to feel a little immature, and a $136 ticket was just the convincing I needed!

![]() Here in FL tint is a necessity. For me the past legal isn't my cup of tea- looks great, but not my cup of tea. Get yourself a legal grade tint, not pushing the legal limit, but a good legal percentage tint and you should be able to achieve a smooth look.

Haven't posted anything in a while, but trust me I've been a busy bee!
So, lost the tints, eyelids, and added the roof rack and went a bit lower. Also did the timing belt + water pump with the help of my vw golf buddy and put in an H&R 22mm front sway bar + vf swaybar endlinks! long and painful timing belt/water pump install (first attempt we were a few teeth off so I crashed on my friend's couch and went back at it in the morning. Ditched the mark and match method for the top-dead-center method and got it on the money! Runs great now! Then while it was still on stands I did the sway bar and endlinks...That took forever too. Glad I did it though; Holy axle clearance!!! From this: ![]() To this: ![]() Then I took off the tints, then the eyelids and put on the roof rack: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also when I did the timing belt, I took out the washer fluid resevoir. The nozzles made these pathetic dribbles at the bottom of the windshield and just angered me. I never really used them, but when I told my parents they seemed to this this was a very important function, idk! lol I sure like the extra room in the engine bay though! ![]() Still undecided on what to do about that ugly missing emblem. I really don't like the emblem look, but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on a hood bra (that doesn't have the emblem stitched on it.) I want to shave it eventually. But just paint is expensive enough, that's not happening until I can do at least the shaving body work... Also I had some kind of wire short to my driver side door speaker that was causing it not to work. Had some good electric experience from this actually. I spliced new wire to the old wire right near the harness in the kick panel, ran it through the door and rewired the speaker. I also did a new wire extension for the passenger side speaker. I think they sound better now, the wire I used before seemed a little dinky in comparison to the stuff I got now, could just be my imagination though :P Sounds good though and my door panels are back on after several days of racecar-status! |

I'm away from my baby for a while since coming back to school, but over winter break I managed to get tires for my longbeaches and really like the new look!
![]() Unfortunately since I don't have spacers yet I had to raise the front up some because I was rubbing coil a bit. It's good to have it not so low when my parents have to drive it anyway I guess :P But with the silver wheels I really feel the need to revamp my light situation. I want white and red tails, to untint my 3rd brake light, and get clear front corners. And finally get a front emblem >_< Next to it is the GTI my friend just bought. Needs a lot of TLC but the PO took care of the engine mods so at least it's quick! |
