Ok, after the rollercoaster ride of events, i FINALLY have a bug now!

Its a 2001.5 Sport
81k Miles 1.8T 5speed!

Thats the picture from when I first saw him at the dealership. I don't have my camera at the moment, its up north with my sister as I let her borrow it on her trip to Vegas. Its a little dirty and needs a bath now anyways.

We're having random rain storms today and the next few days because of whats left of Tropical Mess Ana. So i'll wash and wax it good this weekend.

Its not in perfect condition, but its solid and just needs some TLC. Anyone want to point me in the direction of:
*Trunk Cover/Tray
*Spare Key (flip key) w/o the $250 at the stealership
*Spoiler Light on, but Spoiler goes up and down but sunroof isn't moving.

Those are two things I want to get taken care of soon. The only MAJOR thing i need done is the Timing Belt and Water Pump. The service records are in the car and i'm still shuffling through them, so i'm not sure if they have been changed already. This is top on my list of priorities.

Finally, this is my 1st Manual Car. Any tips are really appreciated!

Congratulations, finally!

One tip I can give you regarding the manual: Use the clutch to shift. Seriously, the VW 5sp is the easiest manual to drive. Don't worry.

Welcome Titan!

You've gotten yourself a very cool bug CJ
Sunroof, spoiler, sport tsssssssssss

Many happy happy miles ahead for you and Titan
  • Oh, about the 5speed, make sure you shift quickly to save on gas.
  • You can easily cruise in 5th gear when going 40 miles. It's said to save on gas to let go of the pedal when in gear when slowing down, rather than downshifting to slow down (when heading for a trafficlight for instance), although I can't seem to master it as I need to hit the brakes
  • Don't forget to hit the clutch when you're driving slow.
  • It's an NB on gasoline, right? Make turns in 2nd or 3rd gear.
  • When you're almost standing still and a light goes green, no need to go to 1st gear (you may feel like you're at a pony park if you do -bumpady bump), stay in 2nd gear
  • When a road is slippery (not that it will freeze in Fl) you can also drive off in 2nd gear.
  • When waiting at a trafficlight, there's no need to keep your foot on the brake (I hate those bright lights in my face ). Put the shiftknob in the middle (in its "free") and take your foot off the clutch. This is especially handy when you're not the first one in line

Can't think of anything more to tell you right now.
Hope it helps!

And ...now that you have your NB, have you made your reservations for the 2K10 ToD GTG?

Yay!! That is AWESOME news.

About the manual tranny, ANYONE can learn it, don't be too hard on yourself and once you figure it out, you'll never go back!

I love it already and its only day one! I stalled only twice today. One time reversing, and one time going from a stop. REVERSING IS HARD!!! I got to go backwards, but i couldn't quite stop! I could, but at the end, i stalled because my lazy bum for got i was driving stick and got off the pedal! I told titan

"Oh you sure are a Titan for taking this! Thank you SOOO much for being patient with me!"
