one thing i think that might be cool is if you got the side piece (idk what to call it) molded to the body, so it's flush. Idk much about that Ruf guy or Porsches in general, maybe having it protrude a little is more geared towards your concept. If it was me though id have it smoothed out.
again, incredible car. I gotta see it in person some day

The "Side Skirts" were left that way intentionally. If you look at the profile of the car, they actually continue the line from the door seam beautifully.

It would have been easy enough for us to mold them in when we smoothed the rockers. We chose not too. Six of one. Perhaps you can try the molded look on yours?

Has this car won any awards from shows or been featured in any mags? If not, it should.

Thank you. No actually we're just in the process of finishing up Stage II, and haven't been ready until now to put it on the Show Circuit.

We're in discussions with a couple of different publications regarding doing "Features", and will hit the shows probably next season!

I know RUF well. At least by means of every piece of literature or articles I could get my hands on. Started back with the Yellow Bird. Your car is so clean and well done, I'm sure Alois would co-sign your effort. It's all in the details, and every portion of the car you touched you hit the details. Under the hood, the suspension & brakes, & the interior is incredible. I can imagine, but how's the car run & handle?

Thank you so much for your kind words. The response from RUF USA (from whom I've gotten some help) has been equally positive! I'm looking forward to (with their help), finishing off a few last details!

The car runs, shifts and handles like an absolute DREAM! Not the fastest or lowest New Beetle on the planet (that's not what I'm after), but still a 140MPH car, that runs a low 14 second quarter mile, corners incredibly, and is a smooth running, reliable little beast!

Just sent my contact at RUF USA a link to this thread so he could check out the car and my latest progress. Thought I'd share a couple of his quotes:

"All I can say is WOW! That is AWESOME!!!! I've passed this around to all the guys here now, and we LOVE IT!!!

Coming from the only RUF Dealer in the USA and knowing the kind of cars they deal in exclusively (Porsche, Saleen, Ferrari & Lamborghini), makes his comments all the more flattering!

I'm looking forward to their continued help as I near completion of Stage II!

The bug looks great Steve. Hands down the coolest new beetle around. Hope to see it in the magazines soon.

Thanks man. I've gotten some really postive feedback regarding some "press", so hopefully we'll see some coverage/features in the near future!
