Well as of now, we will take her sterling and my Peppy Pepper. JYD just needs to much work to be ready by then. But if my son starts driving by then maybe he can drive him or another beetle with us? JYD will take too much out of our funds pool for the trip. We should stay on task and save money for all the hotels etc. Peppy Pepper or PP needs a new windsheild and some touch ups along with what ever mods I can get in before then. Maybe some brakes and struts and shocks? I am the second owner and the timing belt etc. looks great on him. So I can spend funds on other mods or repairs.

Which bug will you be taking, or parden me which POD will you be taking?

The wife told me the other day you had gotten a 3rd TurboS. That's insane!

So, how many Beetles do you currently possess? Just the 3 or do you still have the greenie that you are parting?

BTW - I'll choose for John - GANDOLF!!! I've traveled to 2 gtgs this year to see Gandolf and he has been left at home both times...since he got his AC working properly there are no more excuses. Also - hard to have an OFF photo without Gandolf!

Well both of the cars need some work. I am not affraid or unwilling to do the work to them. I kind of like fixing them.

JYD needs the most work. He is leaking coolant from somewhere I filled the res and it drained out. So of course the coolant light blinks like its overheating. He also will need the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, etc. In addtion to the right blinker and that is before the sever hail damage that he has gotten. I will have to do the body work or pay to have it done. That is undecided.

Peppy Pepper, has a few issues which I am in the process of working out. I thought I took care of the P0411 CEL, but I didnt it came back on. I also traced the problem with the airbag light down to the drivers seat belt latch. There is a broken wire in the harness. I plan on taking the latch out and fixing it, if I can figure how to get it out that is. Then back to the CEL P0411. I am currently saving up to get VAG Com cable and software so that I can figure out what the dealeo is. That in itself will ad to the frustration as I will have to figure out the software etc. He could also use some new tires but that will have to wait as well. Got some small mods in the works but nothing exspensive.

SO for those of you that say your jealous dont be. I got to beat up turbo S that I wish to bring back to life. It will take time and lots of money.

So I did some work on Peppy Pepper with the wifes help of course. After we tackled her panzer plate install I decided to take a look and see why the temp sensor had dashes across the display in the car? Turns out the previous owner or some other clueless person cut the wires??????? DUMB right. Not only that they cut them up next to the socket. So I took some extra wire and my sodering gun and sodered the wires back together. It works now. The gauge didnt work right away it took some time to get off the - 49 degress F it was reading? Now it works fine. One more item off the check list. LOL Power to the DIY bunch.

So I just noticed its been a while since I posted on this thread. I just got done with some minor mods and wanted to share them here.

Ok I cant be like my wife and claim I did it all alone. She did help me with the seals as they are a real bear to get just right.

You may ask well what mods did you do?

I sold the stock OEM stereo and got a JVC unit, this is yet to be installed.

I got the aftermarket tail lights installed

The windows were tinted. Just love window tent. It saves on the wear and tear of the car from UV rays etc.

So I got my favorite head unit installed. Its a JVC model KD-R610, This unit is amazing. It has CD AM/FM of course and a USB slot for tons of music on a flash drive in addition to a jack for an ipod. The lights are customizable for different color combinations to match the interior lighting of the car. It sounds cool too.

Just having an issue with the fittment. It sits to far back in the dash and looks silly. I will have to work on this one. Maybe I will take a crack at it today.
