my absolutely favourite award that i received for my beetle Brenna was my very first one...
she placed 3rd in her first show and was up against 30 other new beetles.
i thought it was absolutely insane that i even placed in the top 3!

but Cup looks good...
very good in fact.

Cup is sweet and well trying to be nice here ya got schameiseled man. Yikes! But she is lookin' good and you can be proud of her in spite of the unusual judging Ya just never know when you go to a show what beauty will be in the eye of the beholder holdin' the cards. I showed my Jeeps(built to the max let me tell you, totally trail ready, spare axels, full cage, 37's, Atlas, hubs, on board air blablabla) and was very fortunate, but one time I was second to a totally stock something or other with big tires on it. You just never know She looks great! I would love to have the time to get up and visit, someday Al, some day!

the more i think about it the more it makes me mad!

there's no way in this world that a pretty much stock bug would beat out Cup nor that RSI inspired beetle.

that friggin batik blue hub cap beetle must have seriously greased a judged hand to get first...

Okay gang to be fair, Brian, the guy who took first with his Batik Beetle, was dumbfounded. We were all congradulating one another and as I approached Him, all He could do is shake His head and say....

"I just knew for sure you were taking first, I don't understand it, You should've got first"

My guess is that the judges are, for the most part air-cooled owners and don't really know the nuances (what's OEM and custom) and can't judge accordingly- I dunno.

As i've said, I've been "Spongebobbed".

Spongebobbed (adv): to be beaten by an underdog. I'm sure you all might have different definations

this happend last year to me, but instead of a Batik Blue Beetle, it was by a lady who had a Yellow "SPONGEBOB" themed beetle....
Spongebob seat covers and tons of Spongebob, Patricks and Squidworths everywhere.

So it's from last years experience, that i've added the term Spongebobbed to my vocabulary. Maybe Webster will add it to the dictionary one of these days

than either one of two things have to happen.

do not have a water-cooled class what-so-ever since these idiot judges don't know their arse from a hole in the ground.

find judges that actually know how to judge vehicles accordingly to their own class.


either way, that was a sloppy job on the shows part.

Cup is doing good- got 3rd place at the VW's On The Beach show. She shoulda got 2nd at least. Anyhoo, there's a couple of things that I wanted to add on Cup for the show, but didn't have time- last minute inspiration I guess. Anyhoo, I'm waiting for a particular "package" to arrive within the next week. So when this "package" arrives, I should be done with those couple of things, one is a bit meticulous. Anyway, I'll take some pics once it all comes together.
