This morining as I was driving on 301 back to Jacksonville from Starke, this sweet Chevy Duramax diesel passed me up, sporting a trailer of a certian driver, who is not a favorite of mine, but i do respect/like him. The picture will tell the story.

BTW, As I passed them they did flash their lights at me- I stretched my arm out and gave them a big wave... really made my morning.

Here's the pic

Well since I got a nudge from CJ and also being called out (thanks Joel)on the "orange you glad you took an orange pic" contest thread ( that was said as a term of endearment), I thought i'd do my civic duty and join in on the contest. BTW, if you haven't checked out the thread, do so- it's fun checking the pics out and the fun vibe that's being projected.

Anyhoo, I did a pre-dawn recon today, searching for "the shot"; I know of the location, but i needed to nail it down precisely. I got up at 5:15 this morning to make sure I got the pre-dawn light, which in FL emulates the sunset fairly well. I got up early, but due to me not being totally sure of the spot, missed the photo window, hence another attempt tomorrow.

My missed opportunity wasn't a total loss. i was able to capture a few choice shots today. Enjoy

Taken on HWY 301 in Starke, FL
Looks like a great backdrop, Al! I'm sure you got your shots either yesterday morning or this morning and I look forward to seeing your submissions. I need to decide on my final 2. I have the final one picked but I'm torn on the other pick. Plus I took some good ones last night.

I'm guessing you're finding the highway shot funny, because you're imagining me in the middle of the road trying to take a shot, while looking out for oncoming traffic... well you would be right

And you're right about the early morning traffic. There was traffic, but it's so broken up and sparse that time of the morning, that I was able to pull off the shots

Hi Marcia

Yes, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman are both big names in NASCAR. I was thinking the same as you too buddy. I know there's some mad-crazy NASCAR die hards out there that really go all out for their favorite driver/race team, but I don't think anyone would go THAT all out- would they??? Anyhoo, i'm guessing that it might have been some auxiliary trailer, pulling some non-essentials or something of the like. At any rate, I did go to StewartHaas racing's FB page and give them some thanks for giving my car some props as we motored along. I'm a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan myself, but have come to admire Tony. He was what Kyle Busch is today- a horse's rump- Tony has matured a bit, still got an attitude, but his maturity has seasoned it nicely. Anyhoo enough racin' talk. It was a fun morning though

No shots as of yet. I missed my photo window (pre-dawn skies) looking for the location- it was a while since i passed it by. I found the location, took a few prelim shots and I'll be leaving within the hour to take hopefully some good sunset shots. There was some earlier storm clouds around and hopefully they'll be enough around for a nice sunset shot.

I did take some shots of the location yesterday, but in fear of spoiling the shot, i'll leave them off the thread until the deadline.

I'm sure you've got some good shots Joel- looking forward to seeing them

Hi Al

Here, the highways are only quiet at 3AM
At 5 or 6 there are too many cars, and... our highways don't have such exits - in the middle of the road

Man I can't wait to see Cup again! Been way tooo long. SHe's still lookin' good though. My guess is that Ryan Newman trailer is either the crew stuff or maybe his fan gear?!

Me personally, since DJ left the NASCAR scene...I'm a Tony Stewart fan...that guy can drive anything with 4 wheels...and he'll attempt to drive anything with less.

Just a few more weeks Al, then your house will be invaded with .orgers! I can't wait.

Awww, why did you have to mention Dale Jarrett. I really liked him. Of course you know i'm a Jr. fan, but I've really come to like Smoke. He could always drive, but he's really become more people/fan friendly over the past couple years.

You're probably right on the trailer too. I'd love to have a trailer like that to haul Cup around in

Yep, St. Auggie is a few weeks away. Kinda bummed that my remodel stuff this year is waaay behind. Wanted to get rid of my popcorn ceiling and do the hardwood floors, that I was supposed to do last year. Oh well, it's gonna be a great time anyway- can't wait

These shots were taken after our monthly Bugs for Breakfast GtG. The location is at Dames Point Park, which is underneath the Dames Point Bridge, which joins Jacksonville's northside with Arlington/Ft Caroline area.

The three beetles in attendance were:
Cup with me
the lil guy- Vern's aquarius blue NBC
The beast- John/OldBugman's nB- not sure if that's the bugs name, but that's what I heard him call it
