Default Downtime's '04 Platinum grey GLS NB.

Ok, here's my '04 NB that bought last week. After working on JB (the Junkyard Bug: The Junkyard Bug ) for the last 5 months, I really got ''itch'' to get a newer, better equipped NB for a daily driver.
After shopping online and visiting vw dealers, I found this one; an '04 GLS with 90XXXkm,2.0, 5 speeds, sunroof, heated seats but no leather...

I sold other daily driver (a '03 Golf GL) and kept all of the performance upgrades I had on the Golf (wheels/tires suspension, p-flow, poly dog-bone inserts, etc...)
and will go on the NB in the spring...

Really can't wait to hit the car show circuit next summer with my fellow dubbers...

Looks fantastic. I see you stole the rims off the Golf.

Yeah I didn't waste any time slappin' those rims on! The bug came with factory 16'' alloys, bought new winter tires and got 'em mounted on... Still got a few more weeks before I put those back on...

Well, I got the bug ready for the winter, got brand new winter tires mounted on the factory 16'' that the bug came with, installed some mudflaps and borrowed the monster mats from JB.
weather has been nice up here for the last couple of days, so went out and took some pics:

Replaced the tired lookin' shifter boot with a black leather one with light grey stitching:

Major improvement:

Just another nice pic:

For a clean freak like me, winter is torture! I like to keep my bug as clean as possible and for this, I'm fortunate enough to have my own car-wash!!

The bug after a good wash:

Also picked up these at the dealership to replace those on the car that are peeling...

Now I have to find a matching set for my wheel center caps...

Still 37 more days before the first
official day of Spring!!!

SPRING!! Hurry up! Man the bug is looking good! I love that you clean your bug in the garage! I would too if I had the room I just detailed it today in -2 degree temperatures, but it was well worth it! Now I don't want to drive it :P Looking good man!

Thank you; I got my shift boot on Ebay, seller is ''TopGaiters''. Great service, excellent price, you can choose any stitching color you want!
I went with a light grey, I wanted something that poped!

Hello Downtime. That is one good lookin beetle!! Do you plan on installing the magnaflow yourself? I am looking into one for our 2000 GLS. Just curious whats involved with the task. I would like to install it myself. What size kit did you go with?
Thanks, Jason

Thanks VA Bugn! Yes, I do plan on installing it myself, seems pretty straightforward... But I'll let you know exactly how it turns out!

I went with the 15648 Magnaflow kit. I heard it on a 2.0 Golf before I actualy bought it, and absolutely loved the sound!

Just picked this up this morning for a 100$ at a local junkyard, I think it was a pretty good deal...

It'll look pretty hot in the Beetle! Can't wait to install it, sometime next week...
