Just picked up this 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS today. It has the 5 speed manual transmission and the 2.0 engine which allows me to go from zero to OMG in a very short period of time. I am very impressed with the handling of this car! This is my second Beetle, my first was in 1991 when I had a baja bug. I loved them then, and I love them even more now. Stay tuned for pimping.

Gave Yoda a good cleaning inside and out. Found some paperwork inside the owners manual that shows this car was babied by it's previous owner. I am only the second owner of this vehicle. Looking through receipts I can see where she put new tires on it every 4 years since it's birth. Oil changes were done every 3,000 miles as well.

The previous owner also installed an aftermarket Panasonic stereo with a receipt showing $200 installed for it. It's nothing great and I plan to replace it, but it is an upgrade over the factory model.

The car came with both key FOB's which did not work at time of purchase. I opened them up and replaced the batteries but they still did not function. Followed the instructions to reprogram them and now they work perfectly.

Every thing I touch on this car amazes me. I am very impressed with it all the way around.

Wanted to add that the car also has power locks and windows, new tires, spotless cloth interior. The spare tire has never been used or removed from the trunk, the foam it comes packed in is still in place. The only thing that is missing is the flower vase so I will pick one of those up. The owners manual is immaculate with only some highlighting down by the previous owner. They even gave me the owners manual for the aftermarket stereo.

Car has 108,000 miles on it and looks like it was garage kept all it's life. I think I found a diamond in the rough here. The price on the windshield was $4800 but I was able to get it for $3700 after some talk with the owner.

I filled the tank up and have been driving it all day. Needless to say the needle has not moved. I think I will enjoy this gas milage!

They are not too bad, not too much on the "feminine" side if you know what I mean. I think they look manly enough for now. They actually have an industrial look to them. I want some black rims for it, have to start looking for them. They are one of the last things that will get done though. I am gonna start with tint first and then a new stereo. I also want to add a spoiler to the back of it. After that, I will look into new rims and tires. I also want to replace the headlights with HID's and the taillights with LED's.

I am going to take my time with it all and just do a little at a time. I will update with photos as I go.

Yeah, My beetle is green and Im doing pink accents with it.. so Im lookin for like some silver (i guess lol) 5 spokes for mine. I kinda want some pink ones.. but, im not big on pink rims.. we shall see I suppose. && I agree with waiting to do rims last. Im going for interior first.. Im going to reupholster the roof and the back flap thing over the trunk.. i gotta find a fabric that i like & I want HID's aswell.
