Default HotDogs 2000 "Bully Bug"

Hi all!
As promised, the build thread of my nb project aptly named Bully Bug.

I found my Beetle by accident leaving work one day. A guy was moving out of the country and was bringing his car in for sale/trade. I was leaving work and my buddy who works in sales told me i should buy this yellow bug for $200. I immediately took a look at the car and asked where the owner was. He took me to see himn and I asked if we could test it out. the dude agreed and 5 minutes later the car was mine. 200 bucks!!!! can you believe it? it does need some work, but being a vw technician parts are cheap and labour is free. so $505.44 later and the bug is now on the raod again with a fresh safety. there are a few rust spots to deal with and a hole in the rear fender but nothing to serious.

Now I'm looking to make it a sleeping car killer. any suggestions would be awesome.

My baby is a 2000 GLS 2.0L

Enjoy the Before pics. Can't wait to get money to fix em up! We'll be starting with cleaning the interior this weekend I'll post those pics when its ready!

200 bucks?!?!? You are lucky mang!

Yeah, some cleaning and removing the rust and she'll be looking like a rock star.

Please keep a good photo journal of "lucky's" journey. We'd love to see the progress of your beetle coming back to life.

Thank you for adopting this NB... The previous owner did not deserve it .. Really.. it is not THAT difficult to take care of your car.

Please keep us updated on progress.. I find these kind of threads on the org are the most interesting.

Good luck

Greetings from South Africa

So I got the seats out and I can see that it needs a cleaning right.... Go to get the vaccum, plug it in and...... poof! no more vaccum.

all that for nothing. Well the wife did get some cleaning done. It didn't make a lick of difference on the dash though... its like the dust is being created right out of the plastic?

on the plus side the pictures are giving me a chance to plan the new color scheme when I have the what, 50 bucks to buy paint to make it happen.

Does anyone have a good solution to clean that dash? man that's proving to be a bigger pain than anything else. I'm think of pressure washing it when it comes out of the car to be refinished.
