Cool 1999 New Beetle GLS

In case you missed my post in the new member forum, I just gt my bug Monday! So far I LOVE IT! Yesterday, I got to "drive it"; it's a 5 -speed so I'm having to learn how to do that. It's a lot of fun, but I need lots of practice.. I stalled 1 getting to church, while I was parking, and 6 on the way back. lol.. I need lots of practice. My first picture has my mom in it. I don't know how she would feel about me putting her photo up here so I blotted out her face. more pics soon. My bug is kind of dirty and so I don't want to show you her completely until I get her cleaned up.

Her name is officially: "Molly"

Hey Thanks! I love my bug! I can't wait to get her new shoes and interior.. I just have to build my bank account back up lol

Any advice on the 99's? Mine has had 3 owners, two of which were very temporary b/c they couldn't pay their bills, so I really don't know any of the problems they typically have or what to look out for.

yeah I'm saving right now for the deductible for my auto insurance: $500. My neighbor had a bug, same make and model as mine, and she rear-ended someone. Here front is all bent up and to get it fixed will cost her $2,000 when they only paid 4,000 for it. SO I'm being extra safe.

As far as the shoes.. YES i need some. I found out yesterday that only half the wheels on my car match.. no bueno... lol.. I need to fix that. And some of the wheels are cracking... so... I really need to fix that... but I can't afford to at the moment... I have to live off of my back account that only has $38.82 in it... very very scary ...

Thanks tho!

Nice Bug

Superficial damage that can be easily and cheapily repaired onn the interior

A good garage would be able to replace the door card arm rests. Just pop the door card off.

The door opener surround can be covered with an ebay fix. You can buy the covers for the scratched part, they just 3M over the top

A new centre console, they are easy to replace, again 15 mins in a good garage and around the $35 mark for that.

Photos fine size wise for me

Thanks! So what exactly does the "door card" entail? 3M over the top? Where can I find the parts for the door card, center console, etc?
Thanks so much! for the feedback!

I'm also thinking of some names for my bug, what do you think:
Sassy- cuz she talks back everytime I start her
Missy- cuz I miss her everytime I go to school
Molly- Cuz I love the name

You can get a new wheel center stick on VW badge from a member on here, pretty good match & fast service

Nice little car, as long as you can do the work yourself to get him back to near perfect you'll be a happy bunny

Perfect starter!

There are how to's all over the place here and most of what you'll need can be done at home with a little time and TLC. You can even order most of what you need online and DIY.

You wanna know the secret to learning to drive stick?

it's easy when ever you can sit in your car while it's idling and hod your foot on the clutch. gently let it out til you feel it creep and let it go again rocking the car in place. do not use the gas. the idea is to implant in your foot where the clutch grabs in the pedal travel.

more pics the better!!! Love to watch bugs come to life.

I like Molly!! my sister had a cat thay was a totally bug! I mean she never went away..... and she would always attack your feet and when you stopped her she would meow at you like you did something wrong?!! Love that cat.... so yah, Molly.
