to be honest Rsi's are quite pricy.. in Europe from around $35000 up to $60000 depending on the condition..
most of them are in Germany but there are also some still on sale in mexico.. but there arent many in the US.. Why? engine emission regulations?

Canada sux for this also.... we have to build or import the good stuff from where ever we can find it. I asked why and this is the answer I got.

emissions
crash safety
price
popularity

Price seems stupid but when you consider an RSI would be around 60 - 100K in US/CAN dollars kinda off putting so they just leave it out.

now popularity is ridiculous I think. The beetle is iconic in North America, and offering a real sports car version of that icon would only increase it right... this is the answe I got from our marketing rep. "That's the reason for the Turbo S.... it offers performance while mantaining the status quo for emissions and safety." very VW answer.

I'd kill to get one personally, or at least the engine... wonder if you could build it??? quick find me a spec sheet! I got a new project! LOL (we'll see seriously)

Default I <3 your rsi!!!

MAN congrats on getting an RSI!!!

I just saw the 2012 Beetle and I still think the RSI is the ultimate beetle.....

I wish we could get RSI that meet U.S.A.'s criteria!!!????
I also love HPA's Scirocco build!!!

Love the rims too and the Orange Recaro seats an interiors....

Get a 1.8 turbo, put a k04 on it, good suspension setup, remap and bolt the kit on.

That set up will be quicker, lighter, look virtually the same and hell of a lot less cash. I've been in one and believe me you'll be very underwhelmed with the performance.
Same engine as the R32 but with less power and the aerodynamics of a bread loaf.

Seats are nice though.

The one we convoyed with. Matthew chased it down in his tdi ....

I honestly don't like all the regulations/standards/emissions non-sense..

and right now all that engine downsizing..

one of the main reason I bought the RSi was the engine.. the sound it makes.. the feel it gives.. its really hard to compare it to any other VW engine..

- nighttrain1974 says get a 1.8t put KO4.. my second Beetle is a 1.8t with remap.. with 205hp.. it goes very nice.. but the 3.2 engine of RSi feels completely different.. the power range.. the way it delivers.. and you always have the feel that there is so much more power in the there but the engine doesn't bother to use it all..
the only thing I miss is the sound of turbo.. but one can always shove in a turbo (or two) like they did in HPA Canada or HGP Germany and than the 3.2 truly gives you wing..

The new new beetle at top range will probably only get the VWs 2.0 FSI/TFSI engine.. but I hope that one day they do something like the RSI.. and as soon as they decide to put in there the Audi V5Turbo engine from TTRS and the quattro from TTRS I want one

and by the way was the GOLF MK4/5 R32 on sale in US? i have seen already quite a few so it must have been?
