Default ursabug's Sweetheart's 2006 Harvest Moon Coupe! Cool!

Hello again folks! Well, Moon Buggy finally came through! Mrs. Bear is now the proud owner of a wonderful new Harvest Moon package #2 (LOVE the wheels!) hardtop.

She's got a tiptronic, creme interior, and the wonderful new iPod hookup! Mrs. Bear has been beside herself since Moonie came home (I thought we'd have to buy TWO wardrobes for the beside-self Mrs. Bear ).

I'll be posting a few pictures to the thread shortly. Here's the first:

Gotta Love The Smiling Face

I never saw the smile b4 seeing your picture. No wonder we're always happy when we're driving them! Are you trying to tease us with the remark about the wheels and then no picture? Have fun driving it!

Well cancel my remark. they were there when I refreshed sorry. They ARE hot!

Default What we think so far...

After 11 days of blissful ownership, here are some impressions...

We're manual transmission fans, big time. However, the Tiptronic is actually pretty good and gets nice mileage. We're impressed and have enjoyed it.

The creme-and-harvest moon combination is actually REALLY neat. It's extremely unusual, and is fun at which to look. We've not yet seen another Harvest Moon hardtop (only NBCs). It's nice to have another "different" bug.

The little mini-plug music interface is great! A $6.99 cable from Crutchfield.com, and Mrs. Bear can listen to her iPod Mini all she wants, without the interference of the FM transmitter she used to use in Spooky. The little iPod tray forward of the gear shift is cool, too.

The wheels are great! I like them. They’re easy to clean, too. The new brushed finish is fun, as compared to Spooky’s (we miss him) silver-metallic paint.

We haven’t ventured into the satellite part of the radio yet. Still a little nervous about signing up for that… If only it had come with a free 1-year-trial.

Moonie came with the VW Monster Mats! Those are great! When the cubs slosh in and out of the car, Moonie gets no dirt at all. They’re well worth the money.

The 2.5 i5’s gas mileage is admirable, better than the 2.0 that Spooky had, and LOTS more power than the 2.0. The power is very smooth, and the power band is wide and sloped. No problems accelerating on this one.

We love the self-dimming rear-view mirror – now if I can just get one on the ‘stang.

I love the new chrome accents and the understated speedo cluster. I enjoyed the bugs of our past, but this one looks pretty good! The only thing I don’t like is the BRIGHT “airbag off” light when you’re driving alone at night.

I highly recommend it! The build quality is leaps better than it was with Spooky or our ’01 (Max) was.

If I'm not mistaken, this is your third New Beetle?

I was floored to see a Harvest Moon hardtop at the dealer recently. I didn't know at the time, that they were availble for both coupes and NBCs! Congrats to you!

Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

This is our fourth bug. It is the only one we have at this time, though. We've done a little selling and trading over the past 5 years.

Mrs. Bear could not be more tickled about her Moonie. I think it suits her well, and makes her commute between home and the University of Greensboro much more fun (she's gone back to school to get a degree in Sign Language interpretation). It is about 90 miles each way, and she says that the miles just smile/fly by in her buggie.

That's it, the "miles just smile by!"

Default Congrats!

Congratulations on your Harvest Moon NB!! It's what I drive too and it's intoxicating:-) Were you told that the 'triple beige' was a hard find too? I thought the dealer was pullin' my leg, but it turns out that the Harvest Moon with Cream interior (including headliner) is a bit of a rarity. It's like seeing Bigfoot out on the road! ha-ha:-) Many, many miles of fun in your beautiful NB!

So you are saying you have both the ipod plug AND sat radio?? I swear I read on the main VW site that it was impossible to have both. Dealer verified that for me too. You lucked out I guess if you got both

Indeed, we have the stellite radio, but we didn't opt for the $150 plug-in-the-back-of-the-headunit iPod controller. We just use the mini-plug port underneath the right side of the radio to listen to our 'Pods. The head unit doesn't control the ipod, you can only turn the sound up or down with the head unit. You have to navigate directly on the iPod.

Still, it's a blast! It's our favorite bug of all!

Yes, it is one of those really unique ones to our area. The dealer didn't really want to let it go... they're very, very hard to find.

Default Today was a Harvest Moon in the sky!

While Mrs. Bear was following me home from Valentine's dinner out (we had started the day off in two cars), there was a HUGE harvest moon in the sky.

Round for a reason, whatever the season!!!

Mrs. Bear's better... still sore.

We've got a battle on our hands with the guy that hit her. I'm hoping that the corroborating witness comes through for us...

I'll keep you guys posted as I have time.

I'm very thankful for nb.org and all its wonderful members.
