Default '00 TDI saved from scrap yard

So a local guy was had a '00 tdi and it needed work, well he was going to take it to the scrap yard because the company he worked for owned it and he could get a nice chunk of change out of it. Anyway the day before he was going to load it up on the trailer i heard about it and went out to take a look. here was the beast when i originally looked at it

wow was it nasty inside and out, and it was sitting underneath a black walnut tree. that made it even filthier. anyway the guy thought the turbo went out on it and it needed work but i got it for the price of scrap metal.

so far i diagnosed the turbo problem (bad maf) replaced the front struts, shock towers, control arm bushings, rebuilt the drivers side headlight, replaced all the vacuum lines, and cleaned out a mouse/rat/squirrel's nest the size of a football or larger, and removed all the stickers. It still needs work but at least it was saved, here are some pics of it now.

Awesome! How much did you pay for this bug? Its so nice to see people save bugs that were abused by their previous owners. Only thing you really need to do is get some touch up paint for the hood and it would look even more awesome. eBay sells the touch up paint!

people will hate me for this, 1k for a tdi beetle. and actually the engine was fairly well taken care of, more the internal and externals of it that just look nasty. I have not yet got to the paint that is coming soon, i'm doing all the grunt work on it first before i do that but it is coming. I also snagged a bra off of vwvortex for not much to help out with the looks as well. if you look at the newer pictures from the rear you can see the entire dash tore apart, i'm rebuilding the entire glovebox and there is something going on with the blower. the switch is fine so now i have to test the resistor but i do not think that is it either because it does not blow at all, but that's one of the next things to look at. I'll keep posting some updates to whatever i do to it.

edit: also forgot i did the front wheel bearings and breaks on it too so far.
