It's not good, it's not good at all.

Your spraypaint mods look like crap.

It takes a great deal more courage to post your mods here and have them scrutinized by strangers than it does to fire off non-constructive criticism. I think that the old addage "If you've nothing nice to say, than say nothing at all" applies here. This person is obviously proud of the things that they've done to their vehicle, proud enough to share them with us, and as members of the community, we owe it to each other to support each other in a positive, constructive way.

Hey, I've seen this bug in person and it's not all that bad. I was told all the mods were done by himself, a lot just experimenting and trying things out. So they don't look perfect? I'm sure everyone has tried something and it turned out less than perfect. You gotta start somewhere, give the guy a break. I think it takes a lot of courage to try and shave off your badges or paint the interior. He asked for comments, sure, but be a little more tactful.

well thats why you leave painting to the people who know how to do it. the beetle is not some POS bicycle or garden chair that you can spray paint and it looks good.

dude, im 18, a student, not making enough money to hook up my car the best way possible.... obviously....

if i had enough money to make my car perfect, i would probably think of investing in a newer car...but so far this is what i can afford and i guarentee you that at the end, my car will be better looking then your car, and much faster then your car...

i m going to english town (race track) in july for a public event and my engine mods will be finished by then.... for you, they will be done by non-profecionals, if you are still up for seeing pro- against -me, we can meet up there and let the whole world know whats better...

peace!

Well - you did say "check it out and comment" ...not check it out and compliment

The front of your bug looks really bad. Looks like the hood got crinkled somehow. I do like the direction of the grille - good 'ole rain gutter covering (I know because I have a member of my club that did the same mod).

I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve with the doors by allowing overspray onto the leatherette?

I like the stock rims painted black though...if you have those rims, black is def the way to go.

Interior wise - your center console does look good painted, but you need to find a set of half circular trim for the radio to make it look a little more clean.

I'm sure that your engine mods will be nice...no need to threaten to race me or anything though....just being honest with ya man.

Dude i give you credit for having the nuts to post your pics. Yeah, some of your mods are (for lack of a better word) amateur, but you seem to have the right idea. Maybe the execution needs improvement, but i give you credit for trying. I like what you were trying to do with the door panels. the white into dark fade is a cool effect and you might want to try it again. The hood needs some lovin, but ya gave it a shot.

Don't let citicism bug you though. If the car sounds good and runs good, that's all that matters. And if you're coming to Englishtown you will see me there. I live about 30 minutes from the track.

Keep trying...and remember...it only matters that you like what you've done.

The good: the fearless determination

The bad: some of the execution

Ahmet man...you've got the idea, and I salute you for trying stuff out. Your center dash came out better than mine, and I like where you're going...just needs to be cleaned up.

didnt think that the leather would come out like that.... but then i realized why people leave that part gray..... duhh...

and the hood, yeah that got messed up in a drag, breaks locked up and went into a tree, so i "ghetto" fixed it, and since the badge was out, i left it out...

and the compliment thing.... no i am not asking all for compliements, i know my car isnt at its best stage, but you dont have to critize it by saying.... oh its the biggest pile of crap ever....

uuuuugh! thnx

So do you expect me to lie to him and say I think his mods are beautiful?

As for tact, I wasn't born with any, sorry.

i gotta admit, the top of the door panel painted white loox good.

i hate how VW made the white and black new beetles with unpainted weirdo rubberized door panels... lame.

and oh my, how often do you see a 1998 cool white new beetle??? very cool in my opinion.

Quite the contrary. If you have a "tact deficiency", just don't comment....Negative energy is not what this community is about IMHO... But keep rockin the bluntness! I just felt like everyone was dog-piling this guy!

Dude, I'm 19 and a student look up my car and see what tasteful mods are. No my parents didn't buy me crap, I worked hard for it to look like it does. As for racing you are a complete tool. You have a 2.0L which means any mildly modified 1.8t will smoke you. I'm not claiming to have the fastest or nicest beetle but at least I definitely don't have the worst one. You do have balls to show what happens to a beetle thats been raped and abused, now take criticism like a man being that you are 18. I'll apologize in person when I see your beetle faster and nicer than mine.
