I was comming out of one of my accounts the other day and noticed a very small buldge on the front tire sidewall, so I went straight home and pulled the wheel off. The tire had a nail in it and had leaked down to about 18psi so that when I hit a sharp bump it damaged the tire. I wasn't too upset because I knew that I was going to be getting new tires soon, but I did not realize how much I had worn down my kumhos. I am now running my winters until just before the first race this year.

Why would you want to buy new tires when you have a nice set of slicks right there? Lookin' good. Any news on the K04?

Yeah I wanted to keep two of those tires to do a smok'in burnout at a GTG or something but I think they are to far gone.

John, hows it going? Thanks for the kind comments on my NB.

Last time I had new tires put on a vehicle of mine the guy doing the work at a national tire franchise scarred up the inside of my wheel trying to remove the stick on weights. Then they also did not remove all of the old sticky material which right away turned black with dirt in several spots on eack wheel. So with my spider II rims I removed the weights myself using a wooden wedge and mallet. I then used Goo-Be-Gone and a small piece of wood (oak quarter round trim cut at a 45 degree angle)to remove all the remaining glue. Wheels are now ready for new Kumho tires.

Seven tires and four wheels in the back of the focus wagon. I took my wheels to a place that was recommended by a show car builder. I took them one wheel first and asked them to mount the tire so I could try out my experimental valvestems(it's a long story) That had to be the cleanest wheel they have ever mounted plus I told them I did not care how much it cost I just didn't want any scratches. One of the owners worked with me and the guy he had do the work did an awesome job. So the next day I take in the remaining three tires. About three hours later they call me and say their ready. I go to pick them up and a different guy brings them out to me scratched. Not bad big obvious scratches but a couple of little scratches where they hit the wheel with their tools. But none of that matters now because this morning I ran into a curb with the right front drivers wheel and rashed it big time. Suprisingly I wasn't to mad at myself I just backed-up a little to try to lessen the damage and drove on. More on my GTI valve stem job later.

As Cori, Nick and Ashley came through Kansas we (Mary and I) meet up with them on I-35 and stopped just north of Wichita in Park City for fuel and food. While Cori was putting fuel in her bug it started to rain then it started to hail, then some forty and fifty mph winds then some big peices of hail that put some fairly good sized dents on Yelojkt's top. Here is a picture after the storm passed, just look at that sky! Man I love Kansas.

After 99,077 miles and almost six years my battery gave up. So I put in an Optima 75/25. The size is very close to the original battery and the positive and negitive post are on the correct sides but they are moved a little more towards the center of the battery. I had to make a few minor adjustments (pictures below). I can't believe how fast my car cranks over now and my interior lights are alot brighter.

Thanks John your NB is looking great. It easily holds it own in the Mid-PA GTG shots. I don't know how many miles you can put on a NB before it just won't go anymore(300,000-500,000) but I hope to be able to find out with yelojkt.

Just took a look at BAR site and that shot of your first shot of your NB is the best picture I have ever seen of a NB. When I have more time this weekend I will check out the whole site.

With the summer comming on strong yelojkt was looking pretty sad and wasn't cleaning up very well at the wash. So I decided to try too clay bar him. I bought a Mothers Clay Bar system at Pep Boys for about $15.00. I clay bared the whole car, washed it again for a second time, then waxed him with the supplied wax. Whole thing took about 3 hours. And all I can say is wow, this stuff is awesome. I should have done this a couple monthes ago. Below is a picture of what you get for $15.00.
We have a poker run on Sat. and I will try to post some picks afterwards.
