Daisy rolled over 100,000 miles today! I've had her for 6 years, 5 months. That's an average of 1299 miles a month or 15,576 miles yearly. She's due for a new windshield, new clear bra, new seat covers, and a new right turn signal to replace the broken one. She's also going to get a very thorough professional detailing this summer. Her turbocharger needs replaced but it's expensive and it does work part of the time. Major work like the front suspension and TB/WP were done at 80k. Brakes and rear suspension have not been replaced. Fuel mileage is great - 43.7mpg on the last tank.

Hi there HotDog! Thanks for the offer! The darn turbo has already been replaced once (at 48k) when it blew completely. The second one has been having problems since August 2009. The next one will be vane-less! VWs turbos are crap!

Today my mom and I drove through Rocky Mountain National Park in gorgeous Colorado. The elk are bugling, the leaves are changing and the weather was perfect. Daisy climbed to 12,000 feet through the mountain roads, with no trouble passing other cars! Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuously paved road in North America. The sign says just under 12,000 feet but there was a slightly higher point of just over 12,000.

My awesome mechanic figured out what was the cause of Daisy's lack of power for the past 2 years - a completely DEAD boost control valve. It was NOT the lift pump (as some orgers had thought) or the turbo (my mechanic's suspicion). If you are anywhere near northern Colorado, and own a VW or Audi, please message me for his name and number. He is honest and fair and has saved me thousands.

After cruising Trail Ridge (elev. 12,000 ft), I drove I-70 west of Denver to Leadville (elev. 10,200 ft), Kremmling and return to Denver. If you've driven this highway, you know how it goes...UP and DOWN! I was passing just about everyone else - Daisy handles the curves quite well. Lots of history in Leadville....Doc Holliday, Baby Doe Tabor, 10th Mountain Division, etc.

Thanks Deb.

Daisy had some body work done - my insurance company paid for the passenger side front bumper to be repaired. A rock or some other sharp object scratched her paint pretty bad so she got some new paint and part of her clear bra replaced. (I LOVE my insurance company, Bristol West)

Slowly but surely I'm getting her to look and act the way I want - on Monday she gets a new passenger side turn signal (cracked) and the driver side window fixed (I think it's the window regulator clips).

Then it's personalized plates and new seat covers.

HEBR132

It's one of my favorite Bible verses. "Daisy" was already taken. Boo. Anyway, Hebrews 13:2 says "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels." There is no Hebrews 1:32 so that won't be confusing. Some people won't figure it out but that's ok - it has special meaning for me. The plates are cool too - they say "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS".
