Default My Beetle's successor!!

After 2 years of owning my beetle, I decided to trade it in for a new car. My new car is a 2006 Pontiac G5 Pursuit coupe. Although it is a big change from the beetle, I find that I got used to it rather quickly. It has a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder engine (145 hp), and a neat feature is the DIC (driver information centre) which tells you the car's fuel economy, fuel range, coolant temperature, average speed, exterior temperature, etc..

Yes, it is Pontiac's equivalent to the Cobalt, except the front and rear are unique to the pontiac, as well as the white faced guages and trunk mounted spoiler. I decided to trade my beetle because in the 2 years I owned it, major components failed (including the engine), and if it were not for VW CPO warranty, I would have been in a deep financial hole. I had bought the bug as a used vehicle, and in retrospect, I realize that the first owner probably abused it.

That being said, I decided to go new car shopping (no more used cars for me). I knew that I wanted a 2 door car with a sporty look, affordable price and insurance, and that's how I chose the G5 Pursuit. The sticker price was approx. $19500 CAD, but I managed to get it for $17200!! As for the beetle, the dealer gave me $6850 (2000 w/130,000 kms). In addition to that, I got 0% financing for 4 years through GMAC, and I got a student rebate where GM pays my first 2 payments.

NICE!!! Well I like it, it's way nicer looking than the Cobalt! I don't think we have the G5 in the states yet, just the ultra crappy Sunfire LOL!!

I asked about why you traded because I'm also having MAJOR problems with my beetle. I had an '00 beetle that was stalling out on the freeway, not starting randomly, CEL, a/c, etc, so I traded out of that and now have an '06. Same problems. It's randomly stalling out, CEL comes on among numerous other problems. Can't blame you for wanting to get out of something like that!

I hope you have many happy years with your new purchase...I'm fairly certain this will be my last rendezvous with VW :*(

Thanks for the compliments. The G5 will be available in the US for the 2007 model year. By the way, the build quality on the new generation of GMs has improved significantly, and it shows. My G5 has the quietest interior in its class, and the fit and finish is superb.

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Cool car, my brother has a Cobalt SS and seems to still like it as much as ever. Hope it's good to you, you got yours for quite a bit cheaper then what he got his for. Oh, does it have the Pioneer sound system in it?

Actually, it does not have the Pioneer system in it, but rather the base radio, which provides clear sound, and a great amount of bass.
