ok, here goes...

desperate times call for desperate measures. pathfinder broke, sold it, needed a car stat. this was the best choice out of the many i called on. please excuse the dirtiness...it hasn't even been washed yet. basically threw $15 into it worth of gas, and drove it to karen's house. yeah, $15 gives me 1/2 tank, which is good for 150-200 miles of cruising, even with the automatic transmission.

it's quick, it's fun, it's cheap, and with some tlc, could make me a LOT of money should i choose to sell it in the future.

So how much was this one? I know the Pathfinder was cheap. Was this too?

I love that you find beaters...I used to do that all the time. Trouble was, I would find the beaters, and fix them up...put more into them than I should have, I think.

For a $550 car, this car should have easily sold for double that.

It has a few issues at the moment (in need of a tuneup/coolant temp sensor/find out where in the hell my coolant disappears to if it's not burning or leaking it), but it's good cheap transportation.

This will be the daily beater...stay tuned because there may be another bunny entering the fold as my show/fun car...

Yo Justin! Nice ride but I hate the license plate. I hope you're not driving it to PA. You know how some NYers are known for vandalization.

POOP!

Glad you got a good deal, and it seems the car came loaded for the time it was made. I'm not too crazy about its safety aspects, because my friend had a small fender bender in one at low speed and came out all bruised and battered. On the upside, the plastic side panels were real cheap to replace. It was her boyfriends car, and was even the same color as yours.
Hope it's nice and reliable for you

Justin, as you already know, I approve of this car as I will be seen in it. For everybody else, I would not be caught near his pathfinder

I can't wait to see it all cleaned up!

My BEST FRIEND in Highschool had a 1992 JUST LIKE THAT... and when we drove it around in 1998 it was ALWAYS breaking down... oh it was bad. It finally got crushed by the autograveyard about 5 years ago.

I hope yours isnt the same

I was always picking Lisa up... I mean she was ALWAYS broken down somewhere!

Justin, I wish you many SAFE and "healthy" miles ahead!

so here's a bit of background on the newest addition to the stable...

the 1992 saturn sc came out to much fanfare. it featured a 124hp twincam 1.9l engine that loved to rev as much as it loved to pull around town. this engine was sourced directly from the company's sl2 sedan, which was recieving rave reviews at the time. the car could also be optioned many different ways, from very basic with no a/c and power options, to fully loaded with leather, sunroof, and a cd player. most saturn sc's, however, left well-equipped with a/c, power options, and a tape player.

this particular saturn comes equipped as such:
-air conditioning
-convenience package (power options)
-"sport package" (leather steering wheel/shift knob/15" "sawtooth" alloy wheels)
-power sunroof
-comfort package (cruise/upgraded cassette player with eq)
-automatic transmission

the only options it does not have are the full leather interior and the cd player. new, this car was over $17k.

this saturn has had 4 known owners, including me. it currently has just over 137k miles, and exhibits none of the known issues with early saturns other than a slight burning of oil.

i'd like to clean it up somewhat, maybe fix a few cosmetic things, and then maybe improve drivability a bit by adding a few more ponies. i think that if taken care, it'll serve me well.

ok, here's the official "fix-it" list:

-1x coolant temp sensor

-2x "temporary" seat belt buckles for the motorized belts (it's way too much dough to fix the motorized belts, and saturn used to provide a pair with every car...wonder where mine went?)

-1x tan left rear seat belt (looks like the old one ripped, junkyard for this piece for sure)

-1x auto trans service (drain/fill with a filter change)

that'll make the car 100% mechanically and safely sound. once that's done, i may go ahead and install a new headliner, but knowing me, i'll be more likely to turbo it first before fixing cosmetic issues.

note to self:

don't drive a $550 car 2400 miles in one week anytime soon.

radiator is held together with stop-leak and i think the water pump is shot too.

oh well, easy fixes...time to hit up the junkyard for the $50 all-you-can-carry special.

i plan to get there:
-radiator
-water pump
-radiator hoses
-tranny cooler lines
-left rear seat belt
-rear bumper
-left rear 1/4 panel
-left headlight door
-power window switch

yes, i'll be able to carry all that. saturns are plastic.
