The versatility in this thing is awesome! I would recommend it to anyone who needs a little more versatility than an SUV or pick-up...here's both!!!

Looks great! Now you just need some Micky Thompsons and you're set! If I had a truck that's what I would put on. And be prepared for pump shock the first time you fill that sucker up

I know right?

If I do get one, it will be black. I'll do the whole black on black thing, lower it a tad and put some nicer rims on it. It'll be a street hauler and that's about it.

This one is black on black. I got the 2 front windows tinted today to match the factory ones on the back and added chrome handles to it. That really made the chrome LTZ and Avalanche emblems really snap!

I'm getting about 18 mpg, but I knew it would be like that. Fortunately, I can get gas at Speedway and get 5 cents off since I use my Speedway card. Put 1/2 tank in tonight at $2.39 per gallon and it was $37.00.

Another neat feature that was discovered by accident was the leveling system. If you put a trailer, boat or any kind of load in the back, it automatically senses it and raises the back end up to where it is suppose to be. When me and my husband hooked up our boat yesterday and set it on there, it started making this growling noise. I was like "holy crap what have we torn up???" Upon further investigation, it was the suspension making up for the added weight. Pretty cool, huh??!!

Yeah, kinda thought your Lanche is black on black. Just need black rims with chrome lips to make totally black on black. Not sure if i'm gonna that route yet.

Cool feature you discovered.

Even though i'm wanting a Avalanche, i'm still debating over the SSR, or a C5. What i'm really leaning on the new Camaro. So many decisions.

I have a 2002 Avalanche Z-71 slightly modified... It has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. welcome to the family. There is an Avalanche club out there, but I wouldn't recommend them.

That's really nice! What mods have you done? I've not done anything to mine other than adding chrome handles, as opposed to the black ones. I want to put in a billit grill next and that will be about it. It's pretty pimp as it is and I absolutely love it! Have nearly 12,000 miles on it now.

I finalized the transfer on my Beetle today. I really hated to see him go, but the family fits much better in the Avalanche. Since I bought it, my husband just HAD to install aftermarket navigation, DVD entertainment, etc in his new Dodge Megacab. Suppose I couldn't be cooler than him, huh??

Love your ride Otto

what mods have I done... let's see if I can list them all.. some of them won't make sense to you since their are model differences between the 2002 and the 2007.

First off, there have been mostly mechanical mods.

as you can see the engine has been painted. I replaced the stock air box with a UPD. The engine has been chipped, and it has an aftermarket exhaust on it (Magnaflow)

I also installed a WAAG brush guard up front.

Painted the word "Avalanche" that is in the plastic to match the body color

Interior there is a non slip mat installed on the center consul. The rear seat head rest pins have been filed to make the removal of the head rests easier.

I modified the fuse box so that the DRLs stay on with the headlights and fog lights.

around back I have a custom graphic to replace the stock Z-71 logo. I have a "Line of fire" light bar above the rear bumper. I also replaced all the screws in the sail panels with lights that come on with the headlights, turn signals and brake lights...

and what truck would be complete without a CB

WOW Otto!! Nice Avalanche. Do you have a 'other rides' pic thread up yet?

I take it that the Avalanche online community isn't a friendly one.

I don't have a 'other rides' thread on the Avalanche... I do have one on my '88 RX-7. To me, the Avalanche is my everyday, get the job done transportation.

It's not that they aren't friendly.. they are over bearing red neck and a bunch of lemmings... they will try and force you to do what everyone else is doing in order to be part of the "club"

Yeah, I've noticed that too. That's why I'm still here. I love the support of doing whatever the heck makes you happy. I have been so pleased with my Avalanche so far. It has the upgraded autoride suspension and drives like a dream! It has every option available right now EXCEPT for the automatic foot railing.

Otto, you have a very sharp ride and my husband's next "project" is an RX-7 Turbo 2.

Here's the link to my RX-7... it's not a T2, but it is probably the lowest mileage '88 GXL in private hands. I have never come across a lower mileage '88 (or gen 2 hard top for that matter) in all my years of looking.

The RX-7 groups are full of kids looking to race these cars. As long as you can get past all the threads on keggars, living in mommies basement etc... they are all gear heads and very knowledgeable about the rotary engine.

Sounds like we have the same taste in cars

Awesome photos! I love pickup trucks and certainly have a need for speed. My dad used to take me to the race track every weekend and I wanted to be a race car driver so bad! I can't wait to get a fixer uppper...a 10 sec car would be outrageous! I bought Fast & Furious just for the cars in the movie...love it.

lol... I am part of the generation that is confused and split between light cars with good HP/Weight ratios, and big cars with even bigger displacement. I can enjoy the looks and sounds of a street rodded SS Nova, and appreciate the pocket rockets coming out of other countries. My truck has to satisfy my HP & torque cravings (I had my truck ordered with the 4:10 rear axle, plus all the other engine work... I can spin all 4 tires from a dead stop).. and the 7 takes care of the light weight category.
