You musta had an automatic! They were notoriously poor when you maintained them.
The 01x manuals rocked tho. Alot of the "kit car" midengine layouts (countach, GT40) with huge, 500+ horse engines used stock audi FWD transaxles! And they held up.
I loved the silver-blue color from VW and Audi... I had a VW Fox back in the day that color!

Yeah mine was the Craptastic Auto . I saw it on a car lot and fell in love . I had to replace the brakes , water pump did the timing belt while i was at it , then the muffler fell off, So i ran with out a muffler had a nice tone to it 7 months after i bought it the trans crapped @ 130xxx miles . I had called around for prices to get it rebuilt most places wouldnt touch it called the dealership ( dumb move ) They said they Replace it not rebuild it and my car could have 1 of 3 trannys 0_o. ANywho the price for a referbished trans was more then i paid for it so I sold it for 800 bucks to a guy in indianna who had 5 audis . I wish that car would have been a manual Id probably still be driving it today .

Hey what did you think of the crank bolt torque specs? 300+ lbs/ft???? I used a 3 foot breaker for mine. Broke two breaker bars and three sockets just to get the bolt off!!!!
Crazy stuff man.
