Default PhoenixRising's 2007 Ford Mustang, Boaz

I was driving home, when I saw out of the corner of my eye, a orange Mustang. It was for sale right next to a Prius, in this used FORD COUNTRY lot, which is a authorized Ford dealer.

Well, I walk in, and was greeted by DAVE who asked me if he could help me. I said, ‘Here’s the deal; I have paid off my Hybrid Highlander; it’s got 26,000 miles on it, and it’s a ‘07. What I want to do, is just swap out even, no money from me, for that Ford Mustang.’

He blinked. And said, ‘Um, you got the title?’ and I said, ‘No, but it’s being mailed to me on the 25th of this month.’ He looked at me and said he had to ask his manager. He came right back, (I mean, right back) and said not only could they do that, but they could give me money as well. (They can check, and they did, to see if there is a loan out on the truck. There is not.)

Well, less then two hours later, the deal was done. I finally had got, one of the cars I have always wanted, but never got (it’s my 37th car, BTW). A Ford Mustang. This is a 2007 Ford Mustang. Here are the specs:

* FUEL ECONOMY EPA HIGHWAY (MPG): 28 AND EPA CITY (MPG): 19
* REMOTE POWER LOCKS INCLUDES POWER WINDOWS
* FRONT POWER WINDOWS WITH TWO ONE-TOUCH
* CRUISE CONTROL
* FOUR DISC BRAKES INCLUDING FOUR VENTILATED DISCS
* DRIVER FRONT AIRBAG WITH MULTI-STAGE DEPLOYMENT, PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG WITH OCCUPANT SENSORS AND MULTI-STAGE DEPLOYMENT
* TINTED GLASS ON CABIN
* COMPLEX SURFACE LENS HALOGEN BULB HEADLIGHTS
* TACHOMETER
* PERFORMANCE: MAXIMUM SPEED (MPH): 118
* DRIVER AND PASSENGER POWER BLACK DOOR MIRRORS
* FIXED REAR WINDOW WITH DEFOGGER
* REMOTE CONTROL REMOTE TRUNK/HATCH RELEASE
* FRONT READING LIGHTS

* UPGRADED CLOTH/VELOUR SEAT UPHOLSTERY WITH ADDITIONAL UPGRADED CLOTH/VELOUR
* TWO SYMMETRICAL BENCH/SPORTS FRONT FACING REAR SEATS WITH ZERO ADJUSTMENTS
* PLASTIC MULTI-FUNCTION STEERING WHEEL WITH TILT ADJUSTMENT
* POWER STEERING
* AIR CONDITIONING
* LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR
* DELAYED/FADE COURTESY LIGHTS
* ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM
* CARGO AREA LIGHT
* CARGO CAPACITY: ALL SEATS IN PLACE (CU FT): 13.1
* EMISSION CONTROL LEVEL FED
* UNLEADED FUEL 87
* 16.1 GALLON MAIN UNLEADED FUEL TANK

* DASHBOARD
* OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
* CLOCK
* TWO HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE HEAD RESTRAINTS ON FRONT SEATS
* FRONT SEAT CENTER ARMREST
* STRUT FRONT SUSPENSION INDEPENDENT WITH STABILIZER BAR AND COIL SPRINGS, BEAM REAR SUSPENSION RIGID WITH COIL SPRINGS

* WEIGHTS: CURB WEIGHT (LBS) 3,351
* EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS: OVERALL LENGTH (INCHES): 187.6, OVERALL WIDTH (INCHES): 73.9, OVERALL HEIGHT (INCHES): 55.4, WHEELBASE (INCHES): 107.1, FRONT TRACK (INCHES): 62.8, REAR TRACK (INCHES): 63 AND CURB TO CURB TURNING CIRCLE (FEET): 33.4

It’s Pre-Owned, but only because it was the dealers car. I also get, a 6 year/100,000 mile Powertrain Warranty...which is cool.

Low miles on it. And no smoking in it. Really keen. The color is GRABBER ORANGE, which is in my view, different, and Ellen, my wife, she loves the color. Which was important.

Here are the pictures, from the internets; I have one of my own below. But because it was raining when I drove home (after they detailed it and everything), I don’t have my own outside shots yet.

Meet BOAZ ( Boaz - From the Bible. Since Boaz means ‘swiftness’ in Hebrew this may be the perfect name for a Mustang, a pony, that can run fast.)

Now, I know some of you may be/are scratching your heads, and wondering, ‘Has TJ lost his mind?’ Here is how I look at this:

* I have wanted a Mustang since I could walk.
*

The mileage, it is close to what the Highlander was getting, and frankly, I know how to PULSE AND GLIDE, and other HYPERMILER tricks, so I can keep the MPG up.
*

The insurance, oddly enough, is lower.
*

I am getting a check back, when I need the cash. It comes to me next week, when I give them the title.
*

I’m 43 and I have to say, I have been patient about this Mustang thing.
*

Frankly, I could use a giant pick me up this year.

More pictures later.

Congrats, TJ! Nice ride
My friend and her BF are Mustang freaks. She has a 2007 white GT and he has a Silver 2007 Cobra with blue stripes. They traded in a convertible Rousch for it.

Very nice! Am I just missing where you wrote it...what's under the hood?

Sorry...people that know me know I am pretty honest.
I don't want to rain on his parade, but I don't approve of going from a hybrid to a gas guzzler...even if it is a smaller engine.
Also, I have a past with FORDs - the best FORD will never outlast the cheapest Toyota or Honda....and the maintenance - well we all have VW's, we understand that word.

I congratulate him on getting something that makes him feel better, and something he has wanted for a long time.

Thanks bro. I'm not sure what I will do, as of yet; a big part of me just wants to keep it stock.

You know, classic that way.

4.0, 6 cyl. I did not (ever) want a bigger one. Two reasons: I'm old and don't crave the huge need for speed, and two, the gas mileage, will be better (not great) but better with the 6 cyl.

Thanks. Yeah, just one, but you can put two, and a cold air intake and all kinds of things...but I am not sure I will do that. Maybe just the CAI....

Yeah, this is what the news was. I have, since I was a wee lad, wanted a Mustang. If the VW Bug is my first love, the Mustang was the second, and I never got to do this before. Let's just hope it's a long marriage. Since, I traded straight up, no car payments at all, and I don't want any soon.

It's got to be the pics, although there is yellow in there.

Yeah, I hope to avoid the tickets as well. Don't need the hassle from the castle.

Thanks everyone.

I appreciate the honesty from a friend. Antoine and I hang out with each other often and I would expect no less.

And yeah, going (backwards) from a hybrid did concern me...but I do know some hypermiler tricks (like pulse and glide), and my foot does not lean on the gas like it did before I got hybrids.

Look, not to put a heavy spin on this by any means, but I am a cancer survivor, I have (albeit light, if there is such a thing), diabetes.

I already lost 30% of my right foot this year. Top it off with the lousy lack of selling my house in Florida for 14 (and counting), months, I just needed the mental pick me up this car provides.

The Highlander was getting in this Texas heat about 22 to 25 MPG on a good day, so with this car, I lose some of that, but the highway mileage will be higher then that, and I promise that the Prius is going nowhere; Ellen will drive that until the wheels come of, she loves that car.

But thanks for the congrats too, Antoine.

Dude.....your reputation as an eco friendly earthling just took a hit. Under the revised ratings, that 6 banger is rated at 17/25mpg, a more realistic set of parameters given that Ford is not known for producing engines of economy. I could say more, but having said that and given your health issues you are battling, bottom line is that you can't take it with you so you might as well enjoy it today....a philosophy I stand by. Many happy miles with your new ride!
