Wow Gate!! G is pretty sharp mang. Did you add the mods yourself, or were you fortunate to get them as you bought it.

Keep the pics coming mang

Added all the mods myself in the last week and a half since I got him...did the short shifter this evening as the sun was setting. Per his Carfax history he was a repo'd lease...so as expected he was as stock as stock comes...a blank slate, so to speak.

Its funny....I look at this car and feel really grown up....I drive it and feel like a kid. The 2.0T is as much fun as I always expected it might be....and the 6 speed is fantastic, especially now that I have the short shifter in.

But I liked the look of that old shifter...ah, I'm sure the new is groovy. And you should love the DICE iPod. I had one in my Highlander. It was nice.

But he still has the stock shift knob, TJ. Just reduced shifter throw.

Rob, the car looks fantastic! Interior is in great shape, as does the entire car. And you answered my question on if you had done the VAG-Com mods yet...

Yeah, TJ...the short shifter I put on mounts on the top of the transmission. You disconnect the selector cables, install the new part, and reconnect the cables...only took about 30 minutes. I can't imagine swapping out that shift knob...I LOVE IT!!!

No, Des, I haven't had a chance to do any of the Vag mods yet. I have looked at the link you sent and I'm going down the list of what I want to do. I have tested the connection and "talked" to G through the cable...but haven't made any changes. Going to have the iPod cable delivered today (fingers crossed) so I will probably be fussing with that before I make any programming changes.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone! This car is really clean to be used...I feel very lucky that we found each other!

That is one nice car. I love it. Good job with the mod list. Dropping an inch would look good.

Count on that on Rob

G is looking sweet, the 2.0T is a blast. Wait until you track it once it's like crack combined with the smooth tast of a nice Shiraz.

Got the DICE adapter in for the iPod....works and sounds really good! Unfortunately now my dash is a little torn up...lol. I decided to do a little subtle painting, and I had some brushed aluminum vinyl I was going to try to add. The stuff looks good, but it just isn't going to work with the interior.

Also, when I test drove the car everything in the interior was perfect. The day after I picked him up I noticed the rubber on the radio buttons was peeling like CRAZY!!! I would have noticed this on the test drive because I did play with the radio. All I can figure is when they did their final detailing when I picked him up they used something on the dash to cause this (I have read Armor-All will cause them to peel in a snap.) SOOOO, right now the radio is going sans buttons, as I look for alternatives to clean them up. Probably going to paint them and use some really nice dry transfer lettering I found online to re-mark them...at night it is ALOT of red LED's staring back at me for the time being!
Wish I had faith in my soldering skills, I'd swap those out for blues in a heartbeat...but they probably wont be visible under the new paint anyway, so oh well...lol. I'll post pics of the upgraded center dash once it is back together...it was just too much dark in one place...

The radio should be covered under warranty, it's a known issue.

I checked over on the 'Tex and everyone was saying that VW was not replacing them under warranty, especially on a two year old car. One guy said his dealer put it this way:

"Its like if you decided to wash your car with paint thinner and then wanted us to repaint it under warranty....it just doesn't work like that. You have to use the proper cleaners to ensure the finish remains intact."

Its ok...What I'm doing seems so far to be working out well.
