Default justin's audi 90q 20v

it was a natural progression from the scirocco to this. twice the power, twice the doors, and half the fuel mileage.

rap sheet:

-rebuilt 7a motor
-034efi standalone, ver. 2C
-034efi injectors
-audisport header
-no cat
-3" exhaust
-rs2 gauges
-11" front brakes
-b4 hood/lights

phase 2:

-rs2 exhaust manifold
-k26/27 hybrid
-tial wastegate
-srt4 intercooler
-2.5" stainless piping for ic
-turboxs rfl bov
-02 a4 3.0q 6speed manual
-rs2 shift linkage/mounts
-full bushing replacement

phase 3:

-new paint so it's not 3 colors
-pull frame out some more
-b5 s4 nogaro seats
-delete rear seat
-full roll cage
-harness bar
-deletion of all safety equipment (abs, airbag, dash reinforcement, etc)

phase 4:

-full track suspension
-lexan windows
-achieve my goal of 350whp by any means necessary
-pare the car down to 2700lbs curb weight
-hear the gf bitch about us not being able to put a baby seat in the back

early pics:

just after we got the car. car no longer has those rims or the spoiler. spoilers add weight, so do those rims.

well, i kinda started a huge driveability mod, well before i wanted to do it, but the factory trans is dying fast, even with only 200hp going to it. the executive decision was made to upgrade to a 6mt transmission, code "fyf", from a 2002 audi a4q 3.0l. to complete this swap, i'll need a driveshaft from a 84-87 4000q, rear axle flanges from the same car or a 96-01 a4/s4q, the complete shift linkage from a 2004 audi s4q, and well, that's it. the following parts i have:

-4k propshaft
-4k rear axle flanges
-'04 s4q shift box and linkage

i still need to pick up the transmission when i get a free day, and from there, i need to make about $100 worth of parts orders from org member kaiser over at danbury. once all parts are sourced and all syncros have been freshened, i will then commence the swap. the 6mt will give me a .58 6th gear, which will drop my rpm about 25% in 6th. other gears will be close or slightly taller than stock.

comparison of ratios:

5mt (aku) 6mt(fyf)

1 3.55 3.50
2 2.11 1.89
3 1.30 1.23
4 0.94 0.93
5 0.77 0.73
6 n/a 0.58
FD 4.11 4.11

the 6mt ratios are according to an independent source, but once they are 100% verified, will update them.

with a 24" tire, i will be able to hold 2nd gear to 60mph, which will be excellent for drag racing and autocrossing. as one can tell, i am moving away from looks and aesthetics and building a reliable car that also happens to melt faces from 0-140. at this moment, it is 3 different colors, but will be painted to match. while power and reliability are first, i would like to also have a car that is monotone in color.

next up (after the 6mt conversion): the q-ship makes a trip to the chiro, where some kinks get worked out (literally). after that, she'll pay a visit to the eye doctor, who has some colored contacts in store for her. then, it's off to the tanning booth, where's she'll emerge freshly baked in pearl white.

actually, my buddy is hooking me up with all three services...so i guess you could call him the q-ship's primary care physician.

downgrading to 2b for the moment after a little mishap on the highway tonight. damn, aan coils are expensive...but at least these had 300k miles on them, making them quite possibly the most robust thing hitachi has ever made for a vw/audi product.

sucks i'll have to use the dizzy again, but it's only temporary. i was getting so used to not having it stick out like a giant orange tongue on the side of my motor.

an alternator upgrade is in my future as well, seeing as how i don't think the 90amp can draw me enough juice to power the 034 and a nice stereo, but we'll see.

oh yeah, round 2 of turbo goodies came today. obx polished t304 mani, aan intake/vr tb, and my 034 line kit with the adapters. busy weekend maybe. i'd like to get it reliable on boost non-intercooled first, then add the ic and expand the power. the important thing for now is drivability, then once the little one is born and i get a SWEET inheritance that pays on the birth of my first child, then i'll probably buy a new cobalt. then, and only then, can the real fun begin.
