They aren't small! I replace 14s with 16s and they hardly look any bigger!

dude, slam that front an inch and they'll look hawt.

oh yeah, i do clean my rims, but they just get dirty so i don't bother doing it as well as i used to. the speedlines are soooo beat on the 90 that the grime and dust cover up the lack of paint from the brake line rupture incident.

ps: c4 s4/s6 springs fit the c3 too.

Boy, how time flies when you're not always breaking. Or really just doing anything really that interesting.

Well anyway, it's been a whole year since I bought the audi and there's no turning back now.

I like this car too much and its been really really good to me, so as a gift, i bought a leather steering wheel. And for some reason, I never posted a pic of the clarion in the dash. Which is kinda odd i think, but hey, it's nothing you haven't seen in Freddy or Chester.

(thats not the only thing in the pic thats been in all 3 cars either)

I (think) I spy some other treasures from the days of Chester . . . . (including the Clarion)

The display above the radio is actually the automatic climate control, not chester's scangauge, which died in the accident somehow (thats what you were thinking of right?) But I just noticed something else I've had in that pic, well, since I bought my first car cd player when I was driving around my dad's 80 benz diesel in high school...

yep, thought it might have been the scangauge but could't tell (even zooming in on the pic) - OK, UNCLE, I give up

Here's a looong needed update.

Well, I haven't done much, but tax return season came and my trusty audiobahn 4channel amp blew a channel. So, with my thinking, I replaced both amps with a single 5-channel amp so I'll still have a matching amp setup. I still miss the audiobahn amps though, even though everyone said their stuff was crap, their amps were awesome and i think they sounded better than what i replaced them with.

I finally got replacements for those 14's.

And I got a turbo light/plate bridge (is there an english word that describes it better?) and i replaced the portugee-rigged power antenna mast.

Next on the list of things to do: alotta nickel and dime stuff, bust mainly fix the hydraulic system leaks (all the damn hoses are leaking and i think i needa rebuild the pump ), fix my horrible emissions, and finally get some GA plates!

The Saga of the Napa axle

Last July-ish
Ever since the ball joint broke last year and pulled the tire into the bumper, I've had a clicking sound coming from that area every time i move at full lock. I brought it to the Howell Mill Firestone, reluctantly, but they got the car back on the road the next day! Which i really utterly desperately needed enough for me to spend $300 getting it done instead of spending $70 at GAP, and I didn't have a garage to work on it at the time anyway.

5/20/10
I was out running errands and what sounded like the cv was starting to sound like it was eating itself alive. So i slowly drive it home, park it in the garage, and pull the axle out. The outer cv felt fine to me, but if you've ever taken an axle out before, you know what a pain it is, especially with the 5000's weird single beam control arm/swaybar setup. I also found that the shop that did my control arm/ball joint used a different nut and bolt to hold it to the steering knuckle and it was a pain to get out...

5/21/10
Since Napa was closed by the time i was done, i ordered the axle the next day, then i went to Jim Ellis audi and ordered the right, and very specific, nut and bolt for $10...

5/26/10
Nut and bolt come in at audi

5/27/10
The first axle comes in from napa. I get home and wait for the rain to go down before attempting to put it on. I get it attached to the transmission, stick it in the hub, and prop it on the ball joint.... It's too short. I remove it from the tranny, put the nut on the begnning of the threads... still too short. I rip the damn thing out and guess what... napa's closed.

5/28/10
Bring the axle back to Napa. They look it up and they ordered the axle for a manual tranny instead of an automatic.... they order another one.

6/2/10
They get the new axle in. I go to pick it up, and i look it over and it looks to be the right one this time... there's one problem. The outer CV is completely locked solid. The guy put his foot on the outer joint and pried the axle up to show the cv wasn't totally locked up. I was in disbelief that he thought it was okay to mount it on the car like that while he ordered another one... I kindly declined that offer and now i'm waiting for a 3rd one.

I mean don't get me wrong, I love Napa. They have always treated me right and their parts have always been awesome and right the first time. I don't know if i should just call it a fluke, or should i start going to Impart or O'reileys or something.

Update:

6/6/10
The cabrio blew a tire on the way to work. All the tires on the car were horribly shot when we got it, so i knew it was just riding on borrowed time. So after work, I got it a set of brand new tires with road hazard and all the other bells and whistles for under $300. Gotta love 14's.

6/7/10
I finally got a good axle for the audi, I get it all bolted together and wow, is this car a lot slower than the cabrio than i remembered... But all the knocks and clicking form the front end are completely gone now! YAY!! But the shaking at 50-60mph is still there. I brought it to the guy I bought the tires off off to get the front tires balanced again, and that helped it a good amount, but it still shakes a lot under braking... yay, new brake rotor time! He also pointed out to me that one of my rear tires were dry-rotted... really? He only sold me this tire not more than 3 months ago.... So i got outta there with $35 poorer, but with another rear tire and newly balanced fronts.

Yay.. that's it for now. Come back again for the saga of the brake rotors.....
