I finally got a chance to do a full detailing on her last night, steam cleaned the interior, vacuum, armor all, washed outside, did wheels.. Of course I can't wax it yet till the end of August the shop said, typical of a new paint job, gotta let it breath for a few months.

Hey everyone, it's been a really long time since I posted anything here about my car.. I guess that's cause nothing has changed, no mods or anything, the car is doing fine after getting it back from the shop, which was a long time ago now. This weekend marks my 1 year anniversary of owning my GTI. I've put 12k miles on it since the purchase, now up to 37,500 miles, so getting close to the 40k service!

I don't really have any plans to do any major mods for a while, I am focusing on getting the car paid off first, hopefully a couple years before the end of the 5 year loan My goal is just to have the car excessively maintained and running well, to me thats worth more than a body kit or performance mods whether I would like that or not.

Anyway that is all for now

Kevin

Hey Charlie, I just had a look at your bug, congrats on finally making the move, no more boring bland Accord for you.

I forgot to mention in my previous update post, that I did take part in the coil pack recall, my cylinder 4 coil pack went out and had it replaced with the new Revision D version for the 1.8T, it looks slightly different and now made in Italy opposed to the older one being made in Germany, no telling if they have solved the problem yet or not, it runs just like the original though, no difference in engine performance or sound.

UPDATE:
Smoke front corner covers
Clear rear corners
TT Vents
Repainted door/dash trim
Repainted calipers... Now green
Custom made floor mats- I painted the Cup logo in them.
Custom made Cup logo dash emblem

That's about it. The major update, is a setback- water leak. It's looking like the water pump. Justin/The Cheat says it might be the thermostat. I'll be digging into Cup this weekend and hope I can get her running for the GA GTG. I really want to be there, but chances are looking thin- still i'm holding out hope. It would be good to see you again.

Well I finally got around to restoring my headlight lenses from their hazyness state

I used a 5 stage process, starting with 3M 800 grit, followed by 1500 and 2000. Proceeded by a couple polishes with Turtle Wax rubbing compound and finally Meguiars PlastX which I went over about 4 times each.. Don't forget to tape off the paint around the lenses though when sanding, 800 grit could probably easily remove clearcoat or at least damage it.

I feel I saved myself the hassle of removing the bumper and buying $80-100 worth of lenses to replace what I have just fixed, to within 95% of their original clarity. Now All I need is a Euroswitch and some really nice performance headlight bulbs

(note the engine bay work bench, hehe. And also taken with my Blackberry so don't expect to see the true quality here.)
