Agreed. And I've had a few GM cars, but never again. I think that eventually, the day will come when GM is gone for good. Just the way things happen. Everything ends.

I guess I better get my Avalanche and Camaro before they're all gone. A sad day in America indeed.
The model of Auto manifacturing needs reworking, i.e. labor, production. See Toyota, Hyundai for examples.

Hyundai, on the other hand, I completely agree with. They had some crappy products, learned from mistakes they made, and are now putting out some stellar vehicles (see Genesis, GenCoupe). I have a feeling GM won't be going away. They will restructure, just like ChryCo is doing. Hopefully they come back nice a streamlined, and able to shift to the marketplace quickly. |

I'm no union-ologist, but it seems like the inmates are running the asylum. If I stand correct, Hyundai and Toyota aren't so UAW influenced, but like I said, i'm no union-ologist. That's what i was trying to point out. The UAW might be one facet of the situation; this has been a long time coming and the higher ups take a great deal, if not a majority of blame. Whatever the case, this hole they're crawling out of, is gonna take a while. I see the new GM with less import auto brands, like Saab, Opel etc. |

Nice that i'm not alone on my opinion. What baffled/angered me, was what was taking place during the beginning of the bailouts and subsequent plans for bankruptcy. The UAW saw the ship sinking and it seemed like they wouldn't budge (not sufficiently) on their demands/requests. It has been that mentality, existing for years in the American auto industry and now has come to roost. Sorry, but if the UAW (current mentality and philosophies) is factored into the new GM, extinction could be eminent. Like I said, i'm no Union-ologist, but from the outside looking in, that's what I see.

It's not only the unions fault. It's the greedy frickin exects taking million dollar bonus' & all that crapola. The workers just wanted a slice of their pie. It's the same with all the big companies. Get it while it's there to be got.

, but in a company as big as GM (I think the last tally put them at worth somewhere near 82 billion in assets) doesn't really give a crap about 1 million dollar bonus. That's 0.0012% of their assets... drop in a bucket.(I don't disagree, though. I think that if your company's ship is sinking, you don't get a bonus. I don't get a bonus at work for doing bad work, why should they?) Personally, I think that GM and Chrysler's (and really EVERYONE'S) biggest problem was looking to maximize quarter to quarter profits, and not looking at the long term game. |

This is what I mean. Why should they get a bonus when the company is going down not up It's like looting if you ask me. |

As for GM and Chrysler the 80 and 90 were not their years. They haven't done anything to help them: Bad cars, bad design, bad mechanic, bad union negciations, etc. Now they are paying for these bad years of doing business. But for old timers, like I, old GM, and old Chrysler for others, will remain in our memories... |

GM isn't going anywhere, with exception of Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, and Saab (did I miss one?). Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC will be all that remain. They will just be a smaller trimmed down company is all. Overseas, they are quite popular and quite profitable. Though Pontiac sells more cars than Buick, Buick is profitable, whereas Pontiac has been losing money for years.
