Default Warren's 1979 Triple White Vert Marilyn

thought i'd posted a pic or two...must be in hoo-ha. still couldn't find it...

local aircooled club had a tech session and GTG at one of our member's houses...yard full of old VWs...great weather, killer food, and we did very little work...

here's a shot of Marilyn...

and one of the 'projects' sitting in the backyard...tempting.

You ain't lyin'!!! I'd take it too.

Hey W, I love that W3. pretty nice find buddy. I so want a air-cooled to keep Cup company. I think Val would take dibs on it though.

More pics are to come right?

yep. should have a few after the Fall Classic in Newport News in two weeks...

i got "selected" to be the showcase car for our air cooled club at the show...all the local clubs are showcasing one of their club's cars at Show Central.

some of our curmudgeonly members have some KILLER bugs...they didn't want to showcase over some old grudges with the show organizers...aaaaagh.

geez. you'd think at 70+ years of age they'd let that stuff go. ah, no.

so i got sucked into taking one for the team as club president. told 'em I'd wash, wax and vacuum my car for the show.

Im gonna guess its a 71 because I see a marker light in the lower front nose and it has flat hubcaps where as the 70 and older had the bubble caps

Don't know how I missed this thread Warren. Noice tripple white, a real tripple white. Not what the dealers/vwoa are trying to pass off as trips with the current vert line.

couple of pics from the weekend...

after five years of ownership, we finally got enough snow to go take Marilyn out to do doughnuts in the parking lot of Ali's old high school...

got up early, spent ten minutes making myself dizzy, then headed on my way. great fun with new snow and no one around.

thanks, Mike. wish it were mint...but it is a very solid bug, well taken care of for 26 years by Kathleen before she sold it to me.

working through some issues Fowvay identified when he was here for NBeast a couple of years ago...the structural issues were less serious than i feared. a good thing...and a whole lot cheaper.
