Default D2Beetle's '87 dodge B250 Custom Van

Oh, I had another, other ride, but sold it to my younger brother.

So here is my (I am the original owner) 22 year old custom van with 133,000+ miles on it; we used it when traveling to see relatives when I was in the Marines. The kids were younger then and the TV/Nintendo/PS2 set up (not shown) keep them occupied.

These photos are the "before" photos as I am finally getting around to cleaning it up. We do not drive it very much anymore so it kinda gets neglected.

I have done something stupid recently, I had it running to warm up and I was cleaning the windows, my hand hit the lock thing that sticks up from the drivers door locking the door and I ignored it, closed the door to get the outside of the window and then realized that I had locked my self out!

What made it worse is I could not find the spare key (still have not) so I tried to break into it via the rear door with a coat hanger... I did finally get into it after the window shattered. So my B&E life ended as quick as it started. Can you tell which window it was?

Those seats in the back look super comfy! Can't believe it still runs after 22 years.

And it doesn't look that bad for it's age. The interior looks immaculate.

I think there are less controls on a 747 then there are above that drivers seat! A CB radio too! 10-4!

Thanks for all the comments...

The interior is very comfy as the wife an I would drive straight through and take turns driving, sleeping, playing games with the kids, etc.

You should have seen it when I had it all decked for a trip!

i kinda want it.

then i'd park it by the river.

then when people asked where i lived, i could say "in a van down by the river foo!"

helps that it moves too.

My parents had a Chevy conversion van that we used to take to Florida every year. Hard to believe that a vehicle that size has no footroom whatsoever. I would be almost paralyzed after a 6-hour driving stint.

I also remember that we went for Christmas once. Started the drive in 20-degree cold. Drove through the night and at the first fuel stop, opened the door and basked in the Carolina warmth.

That takes me back! Obviously not the same animal, but when I was a kid my family had an '84 Ford van. Interior wasn't as plush, but the layout was the same. It took us on our 26 hour trips from Oklahoma to Pennsylvania to see our grandparents. (My parents did the same as you, taking turns sleeping, driving straight through.)

I'm surprised that there was no room; was it the Chevy Astro? The Astro looked a little small for a conversion, but they did them.

When I was in the Marines we two yearly trips, Havelock, NC to Nashville, TN - 14 hours; Havelock to Boston - 20 hours, and after I got out of the corps it was one yearly trip from Springfield, TN to Boston - 22 hours.
