well, I made it home from my trip up north. Got some pictures on the way home, I'll post them up soon (hopefully). Had no problems with the car. The only bad thing that happened was about 10-20 miles from my house on my way home, I hit a rabbit...with a rabbit. Such horrible irony.

I'd say definitely do the timing belt, water pump, thermostat. Also new coolant lines for sure. And get that fuel tank cleaned out if the car sat with fuel in it for that long. Hows the IP looking? I wouldn't say that just because the car was ok on the trip means its ok long term. We've probably put a few thousand miles on our car without issue, but there were and are still a lot of things that need to be replaced. Could our car make it to MD for H2O as it sits? Quite possibly. Is it the best idea to make the trip without some more work? Probably not.

Does your car have AC? Power steering? Our Jetta has AC but no power steering, which we're actually pretty happy about. One less thing in the engine bay!

It "has" AC, although it does not work, and it has manuel steering. Actually, none of the climate control features work. Whats the IP?

Injection pump

Ours is the same. We have factory A/C. When we got the car, the heater core was shot and the blower fan was broken. Replaced the heater box with all new parts and now we have heat and a blower fan, which means we also have defrost now! We'll be tackling the AC later.

the injection pump seems to be fine, but a friend of mine has a spare that we can rebuild if this one breaks beyond the point of no-return. ya, I think it just my controls for the climate control because before it was manualy shut off , it was blowing heat at me.

You still should check out your AC components. We have heat now but the AC still doesn't work. Also think about changing it over from R12 to R134. We got the whole kit with new seals and everything to make the changeover. Guess its possible that it was swapped over prior to it being parked, but its doubtful.

If I ever get my butt away from this computer today, I'm probably going to finish cleaning out the rain tray and the sunroof gutters (which some how DOESNT leak)

So on saturday I bought a horn for the rabbit because it currently does not have one istalled. I pick up a dual trumpet horn from autozone for $50. I was nto expecting it to be as loud as I wanted it to be, but when I hook it up to the battery just to test it. The darn thing is as loud as a semi air horn . Now all I have to do is do some wiring to install it becasue the factory horn wiring is all rotted.

I got the left ball joint on but couldnt do the right side because I had to use a bolt from the new right side ball joint on the left becasue I stripped on e for the left side. So that is on hold for a day or two. In other news, pictures.

Got the rear seat from a junk yard for $50 bucks. Now if I could only find matching front seats to it.
