Looking good Matt

Hey how's the condition of your crankcase breathing tube? I now Cup's was real brittle and broke off in my hand. Give it a check while you're down in there.

Hey Al, I can attest from working on this car, that those thin brittle vent hoses on the beelte/golf 1.8t are completely different on the passat. The rubber hoses are much much thicker and still look new.

That's good to know Jose.
I'm gonna look at that pic again... wondering if it's the same size as the beetle 1.8t hose; might be worth swapping out... food for thought for other nB owners needing that fix.

And yeah.... very brittle indeed; and an expensive little hose too

It wont fit. The hosing routes are completely different. The whole transverse vs longitudinal thing.... does completely change everything.

Yeah, standard rubber hoses are actually in great shape overall on this car. It was a few of the cloth-braided vacuum hoses that had seen better days. Btw Jose, I just received the diverter valve (thicker wall) 5mm hose and it's looks just like what I had. In fact, the hose is so nice it really makes me want an upgraded diverter valve, but that can come later. Should have the powder coated intake manifold back on Wednesday.

Great!

So after you get the intake back and the new turbo, are you waiting on anything else before re-assembly can begin?

Oh yeah, how's that cd?

I know how this whole ordeal has sucked pretty hard for you, but at least you know I'm close by with the other nice car for when the nice car that picks you up when your beetle breaks down... breaks down. Wow, try saying that aloud.

Still deciding on the exhaust manifold and awaiting hose clamps and a few parts from the dealer. I am planning on install day one week from today (Mon the 22nd) and thinking about having the car towed next Saturday to the garage I plan to use.

Thanks so much again man for all the help! It has made this process so much easier.
